If we somehow could convince the Mavs to cut Delonte...  ;D

The only kind of guard, we could use is a vet pg or at least a combo guard, who has a lot of experience at the 1 spot. Another shooting guard, like Barbosa, would not get any minutes behind Lee, Terry and Bradley (and even Pierce). That's why Smith and Christmas were cut.

Otherwise I would rather go for another big (Andersen, and it's not even close).

I am beginning to be a bit more concerned about our size issues for our guards as well.  There are just so many great 2s and 3s that have serious length and size these days.  I wish we could just pull on AB and stretch him out to about 6'4" without diminishing his quickness.  I am concerned that our smallish (but still good) guards might be exploited at times by bigger wings.

but what can we do at this point?  just gotta play better team defense and get everyone on the same page with the rotations.

I think we should have signed Andersen (criminal investigation + bad back or not), but at this point, I think we need another ball-handling guard.

And with size. The only guard we have with size is Lee, that's a big liability in my opinion.

Any chance that Dooling unretires?  He would be technically allowed to, so long as he never fired retirement papers with the league I believe.

I would fine with Dooling being back.  I really liked his overall impact on the team.  From his interviews though, it sounded like he was serious about walking away.  I guess sometimes people change their minds though...

OK, when will the other shoe drop?

Celtics signing Stephon Marbury to two year, partially guaranteed deal?

I would take Steph Marbury over Jamar Smith any (and every) day of the week.

At least he can make plays, he can pass and he can handle the ball.  For a 13th - 15th man on the roster ironically we could probably do a lot worse...

I think this suggests that if Ainge doesn't find a veteran pickup, that Kurz or Downs would get the nod over Christmas.

In a few months, perhaps an emerging young Celtic big man can allow the team to flip one of the minimum salary veteran bigs to a team with a veteran minimum salary guard they signed for insurance they no longer need now that an emerging young guard has proven himself.

Call me crazy, but there's a part of me that would rather keep Micah Downs over Joseph.  I just don't like Joseph's game, and in limited minutes I really like what Micah Downs offers as a player.  Rangy, quick, can handle it, and has a knack for rebounding (big-time leaping ability).  I'm not so sure Kris Joseph has this thing in the bag...

Why not Barbosa?  Guy's always been a contributor and I think can play the point. Only 29.  Plus, steal him from LA (I think he helps them enormously if he goes there).  Do we have the BAE to spend?

Since I rarely predict accurately, I wanted to credit myself here  ;).
Not really a prediction -- but he is the guy I definitiely wanted. I absolutely love LA not getting him, that in itself makes it a great signing.

TP! It's what makes the signing so good, and Ray Allen signing with Miami so bad.
