Since there is no one to fill that roster spot now (I assume), and since XMas was already paid for half a season, it makes no sense to cut him, unless there is someone Danny and Doc absolutely love on the training camp roster (doubt it), or they are preparing for someone being cut from other teams.
Expect them to sign a solid if unspectacular PG who can soak up minutes if push comes to shove in the backcourt. The problem is it's slim pickings. Fisher? Mike James?

Any way we can get Tmac out of his Chinese contract?
You really want to give Doc a heart attack? I think he gets visions of walking boots every time T-Mac steps into the room.

Also, I'm not sure T-Mac is the type of player who will contently sit on the bench most season yet be ready to go full tilt if necessary.

I didn't follow him closely last year.  In Detroit two years ago, though, I thought he looked decent in a limited role.

But yeah, I said it half tongue-in-cheek, because he's under contract.

Don't ever say that A. Sherrod Blakely isn't an insider.  Yesterday, he reported that Christmas had the "inside track" on making the team.
How does the guy even keep his job? He is THAT BAD

I'll wait for more a reliable source. I can't fathom why Celtics would cut Christmas when he has partially guaranteed contract.

I'm sorry but why does anyone care about the 15th man on this team? I mean whomever it was is going ro the D-league anyway.
Because this particular 15th man is your backup PG if something happens to Rondo or Terry. Which is why we needed something better than DL fodder (i.e. that's why both Smith and Christmas got cut).

I was talking about Smith, X-Mas and Joseph, none of which are ever going to be your back up point guard.

Glad Joseph made the team.  I followed his entire career at Syracuse and I think he has the potential to make a solid though unspectacular backup 3.  He won't get there this year, but that's very good value for a late 2nd rounder.

I feel like we wouldn't have cut Xmas and Smith if we didn't have another guard lined up for that last roster spot.  Derek Fisher?  I'd be fine with him as a savvy vet playing spot and emergency minutes.  Pretty much the role we were going to ask Dooling to play anyway.

Haha! Not a Fisher fan?  ;D

Here is a list of the best free agents still available...
http://hoopshype.com/free_agency.htm

Kenyon Martin
Chris Andersen
Leandro Barbosa
Mickael Pietrus
Josh Howard
Mike James
Ben Wallace

any chance we sign Martin or Andersen ? Maybe Piertrus

I would just keep Joseph and sign Andersen, we need a shot blocker in there at all times to protect sully, bass and green when they are playing pf

I think we should have signed Andersen (criminal investigation + bad back or not), but at this point, I think we need another ball-handling guard.

Why not Barbosa?  Guy's always been a contributor and I think can play the point. Only 29.  Plus, steal him from LA (I think he helps them enormously if he goes there).  Do we have the BAE to spend?

Thank god, both were horrible. X-Mas was every bit as bad as Smith. Just a chucker with no sense of team play..

And with size. The only guard we have with size is Lee, that's a big liability in my opinion.
