It's unconfirmed, but it wouldn't surprise me. Both have not impressed me at all, but then again, neither has Joseph.
Front page broke it first!

I think that if the Celtics cancel Christmas, I'll be bummed.

It upsets me only for the future lack of weak Christmas jokes.

The only issue I have here would be if the Celtics went with an open roster spot to start the season.

If that's the case, why not keep Christmas around, if we're going to be paying him $250k regardless?

There's probably a good answer for that, though.  Like, for instance, we're filling the slot.
He could be requesting to leave if we're planning on ditching him for the first emergency PG we see and tell him so upfront.

Hopefully they'll use it, but who knows.

While this is a possibility, I would hope Danny would point to his guaranteed contract for half the season, and tell him to go pound sand.

Totally down with Joseph. Seems like a capable player with better long term potential.

Since there is no one to fill that roster spot now (I assume), and since XMas was already paid for half a season, it makes no sense to cut him, unless there is someone Danny and Doc absolutely love on the training camp roster (doubt it), or they are preparing for someone being cut from other teams.

I think the latter is true.  Even though we paid him, XMas did't play well enough to even warrant keeping him for that half season.  The open roster spot is essentially more valuable - that is Danny's M.O. (see Erden, Semih).

Celtics signing Stephon Marbury to two year, partially guaranteed deal?

I'm sorry but why does anyone care about the 15th man on this team? I mean whomever it was is going ro the D-league anyway.
Maybe they desided to keep the blond guy who had like 7 rebounds in 12 minutes the other night?
Who know, who cares. None of them are going to see the court and may be a throw in if there is a mid-season trade.

Expect them to sign a solid if unspectacular PG who can soak up minutes if push comes to shove in the backcourt. The problem is it's slim pickings. Fisher? Mike James?

Don't ever say that A. Sherrod Blakely isn't an insider.  Yesterday, he reported that Christmas had the "inside track" on making the team.

I thought in summer league and in preseason Joseph was better than xmas. Xmas seemed to force things and was a bit out of control, and took really hard shots instead of passing it to the open guy. He was a bit scary at times. YEah he scored, but not with ease and good enough to look pass the out of control plays that when playing against the established players would bit him in the end.

Joseph just seemed to play more in control and smooth. I think he has potential to be a solid back up SF in a couple years.

Any way we can get Tmac out of his Chinese contract?

Because this particular 15th man is your backup PG if something happens to Rondo or Terry. Which is why we needed something better than DL fodder (i.e. that's why both Smith and Christmas got cut).
