That's false. First of all, it's per 48 minutes, not 40, because that's the length of a basketball game.
Which parts of it is false exactly? And you can convert it to whatever you want -- to rebounds per minute, or per 5 minutes, or per 33 minutes and a half -- it will still be the same number. I converted it to per40, because that was the easiest way to compare to HoopData's number for KG.

By the way, there are other numbers that prominently display how poor of a rebounder Milicic really is, but the line of argument chosen in that post was particularly poor. Leon Powe never averaged more than 4.9 rebounds for us (in 17.5 minutes), and people considered him a good rebounder.

leon powe is 6-8 not seven feet and hes not a center so hes a poor choice to compare to darko.

The thing I don't get on this Blog is people complain when  the Celtics trade Perkins for Green, it was the biggest mistake on the planet and they destroyed the team.

Perk was a better defender, rebounder, and offensive player than Darko, though.  He was also an excellent team player and a very hard worker, both of which Darko is rarely accused of.

Also, the concerns about Darko being a poor rebounder are accurate.  The last three seasons his TRB% (total rebounding percentage) has been: 12.3%, 11.8%, and 11.3%.  Those are bad numbers, and are getting worse.  It puts him into the same range as Brandon Bass as a rebounder.  He's not as bad as Jason Collins, but he's bad.

I think the signing is worth it for the minimum, but Chris Andersen would have been a better addition.

I happen to think Boston will be a great fit for Darko.  I believe that he'll be more highly motivated than he's ever been in his career, and that he'll be a productive member of the Celtics.
I don't think motivation has been the problem with Milicic. He somehow was never able to put it all together and learn how to be an effective NBA player -- at least not to the extent to which he could have been, I guess. As far as 10 mpg players go, of course, he's alright.

Ding-ding-ding, we have a winner :)

I know you won't describe Milicic as a gym rat, but I've never heart anything about poor work ethic. Any sources on this?

edit: Actually, there is an interesting piece in one of the Wolves' blogs written when he was amnestied: http://www.awolfamongwolves.com/2012/07/wolves-amnesty-darko-for-batums-offer-sheet/

You just said he wasn't worthy of being a top draft pick. We already knew that.

yes we did but its a true testament to how bad he really is, alot of high picks dont turn out so well but they are not number 15 ALL-TIME.

This better be for the vet min. Otherwise its just stupid.

Seems people are living in never-neverland with this guy.

Doesnt matter what team or situatiuon this guy is in, hes not gonna play better than his usual low level.

Hes a bum and always will be one.

Stop hoping for some miracle like some people did with hollins last season, these things dont happen, if your been a scrub your entire career your gonna stay a scrub, I cant believe people think otherwise.

flyofchange - so you don't think this is a win-win for BOS?

Darko IS here on the Vet Min, I believe.

I guess you can count me as one of those guys in "Never-Never Land" lol, about Darko.

J/K

The vast majority of Bigs to play here in BOS over the years have looked GOOD, at the very least, and helped the team:

1. JO - (Yes - when he was healthy).

2. Shaq - BOS looked unbeatable when he manned Center back in 10-11.

3. Perk - Next to KG he played well, despite his limitations.

4. Sheed - Granted, Sheed appeared to mail it in during the regular season, but he was key for us in the playoffs in 09-10.

5. Hollins - Yes, even with his limitations, he played well in spot minutes.

6. PJ Brown - I hated to see him retire. Loved his play.

7. Stiem - Hated to see him go, too. He played well in BOS.

I just don't think that Darko will come here and wash out. I'm optimistic about him.

Im happy for you if you can be optomistic about this guy.

All those players you listed have been at some point alot better or better than darko.

And believing that its for the vet min is not knowing is it?

Vet Min for Darko:

Quote
Darko Milicic and the Boston Celtics seems like … an odd fit. But, according to CSN New England, it's very real.

The veteran big man, waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves in July, will sign a one-year deal with the Celtics next week for the veteran's minimum, according to CSN.

His agent, Marc Cornstein, later confirmed the agreement to ESPN.com.

Ok, now i feel alittle better as long as he doesnt see the floor, after all we need someone to carry KGs bags and hand people towels and gatorade on the bench.

If hes starting by christmas hell has probably frozen over.

lol..C'mon man...Darko hasn't been THAT bad...I think we are looking at him through the spectrum of him being selected as the 2nd overall pick in the 2003? draft.

What "IF" he's starting by Christmas because he's earned it? And because BOS's winning ways have rubbed off on him, and because he's now on a contending team?

The game of Basketball is SO MUCH Mental. If you THINK you have an opportunity to play with a great team and organization that is playing well in May and June next year, that does wonders for most people. That makes some players want to give up more money overseas to come here (like Darko did).

"IF" Darko is starting by Christmas, then you can bet that KG will be happy, because he would more than likely move back to PF. While he is a bit older, I still think KG could play PF vs most opposing PFs in the league. And the few long and athletic PFs out there (LaMarcus and Bosh), aren't going to kill BOS on their own.

You could count me as one of the detractors of Darko coming here if he was in his 30's, but he is STILL in his prime. He now has the opportunity to reach whatever his potential is here in BOS.

Hes not a starting 5 in this league even if the 5 position is the weakest ever.

Ive got a better shot at winning the lottery than this guy has of turning out well on ANY team.

Hes a bum, period

Nope, it's not a testament of that at all.

Sam Bowie was a much, much better player than Darko ever was, or will be. And yet, he tops the list.

Yes, you do need to say more.  The fact that Darko Milicic will probably never live up to his draft selection doesn't mean that he can't be a productive player.

Let me add, the Celtics didn't use the number two draft pick to get him.  They simply signed him for the vet. minimum.  Good deal in book.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Wow, Perk even stops to gather himself when he is flopping!
The funniest part was when he suddenly realized what had happened and threw his hands up in the air like a helpless crab on its back.

I could see Darko being sort of a Krstic type. I didn't think that guy was so good and then he got here and when he left I missed him. He didn't make me forget about Perk but briefly he took some of the sting out

I would rather have Krstic!

I take that back, I would rather have Andersen or ben wallace
