Thank God!

No more David West heartbreaks.

Danny has done well.

Perhaps the deepest (and youngest?) team we've had in a while.

The bridge to the future has widened quite a bit, AND the Contender WINDOW is now WIDE OPEN...

Rondo, Sully, Fab, Lee, AB, Bass, Jeff Green...THOSE folks make quite a NICE complement for KG, Paul, Jet, Wilcox, and whomever else Danny brings in here.

Well Done!

I just think we all should move on from Mayo-Gate.  Didn't we just acquire Courtney Lee?
I think we as board should feel free to keep talking about whatever we want to as it relates to the NBA.

I mentioned it in relation to Mayo's FA demands, Lee was asking for a tier of money below so it provided a band with which to judge things.

Sure you can talk about anything you want.  I think you are misinterpreting my response.  Talk about OJ Mayo until he retires.

And I can talk about Courtney Lee instead.

No doubt about it.  This gives us nice, young prospects at every position to complement our proven championship experience.

It's almost like two different rosters but they meld together so well.

has anyone done the math yet to see if we have enough room to use the Bi-Annual without going into tax land (which we can't because we used the MLE)?

I've pretty much done it.  We have room for the BAE if that's our last player.  It's unclear exactly how much Lee signed for this year, but I'm assuming $5.29 million.
[/table]
Lee won't be making over 5 million in the first year. Hollinger said it was around 4.6 which fits with the standard 7.5% raises for the total value of the contract.

Although I don't know what Pavlovic signed for, I'd be surprised it that's the case, regarding Hollinger's number.  If Pavlovic signed for his non-Bird max of $1.6 million, Moore wouldn't need to be included in the deal.  Since Moore is involved, and is supposedly not having his contract picked up, his inclusion makes little sense unless the dollars are higher.

The point is, because Moore is waivable, and Pavlovic has to sign a three year contract per sign and trade requirements, the Rockets wanted to take a smaller cap hit.

Deal is reported as 21.5m.

To make this work Lee must start at approx 5.04m and then will recieve raises of 4.5% (7.5% is not allowed in a S&T)

Here's the values:
1-5.04
2-5.27
3-5.50
4-5.73
Total-21.54

Again, these are approx, and have been rounded, but are probably very close.

To answer the previous question of do we have room for the BAE, yes, we do.  We're currently at about 69.5m for 12 players.  We have about 4.5m left to spend under the apron.

I don't think he's worth more than Terry per season, but it's a reasonable enough contract.

I'd agree with that, but only with the caveat that we have to take age into consideration.  Lee is still only 26.

Hollinger also just tweeted that the deal starts out at $5M even - which is basically what you said

All very reasonable numbers, I'd say.  And a reasonable price of acquisition.  There is really very little potential downside here.

Also, well done KG's Knee.  You called it almost on the dot, TP.

The point is, because Moore is waivable, and Pavlovic has to sign a three year contract per sign and trade requirements, the Rockets wanted to take a smaller cap hit.

But Pavlovic is going to Portland.  Why the heck are they involved?  They could sign Pavlovic for the minimum without any help.  So perhaps Sasha wanted a little more to sign with Portland instead of whatever other team was offering the minimum, and they stepped in for the S&T, giving him the $200k extra they could.  Otherwise this makes no sense for Portland to rescue the deal at the 11th hour, and Pavlovic to help at all, if neither of them are getting anything more than they would have had they not gotten involved.  One not unlikely possibility is that Sasha got a little more money, which would mean that $4.6 million would have been reachable without including Moore.

That said, $4.6 sounds believable in the sense that Dooling + Williams alone could have brought back at most $4.61 million.  So if $4.6 million is the number, it seems like the Celtics and Lee agreed to that awhile ago, and were desperately trying to find someone to take Dooling for the past week.

I disagree. JET will be 35, 36, 37 years old during the span of his deal. Logically, he'll decline. On the contrary, Lee will be 26, 27, 28, and 29 during the span of his deal - his prime years. At some point, JET's decline coupled with with C.Lee's (hopeful) growth will make C.Lee the more valuable player.

2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

If true, then it's slightly less than 21.5m, but was probably just reported as such for "ease".

He's only 26 years old and has rising star written on him...

Averaged over 11 points last season, shooting over 40% from the 3-point line.  I love this move...

We've replaced an aging Ray Allen with Lee & Terry.  That's solid from Danny, and I LOVE it.
