The Brooklyn Nets select Serge Ibaka and Kenneth Faried.

That's an athletic team right there. undersized, but athletic.
I think Ibaka at 6'10 240 of solid muscle is big enough to guard pretty much all of the centers in the league.

I'd be concerned about the defensive discipline of this tandem. Pump fakes can cause a lot of troubles.
Since they are young you can't expect them to always make the right play but they are two bigs that play with more energy than just about anyone in the game. Their energy and athleticism and effort will make up for their shortcomings.

I think the NBA is going in the direction of smaller lineups, these guys are both quick enough to play against smaller lineups but big enough so they can crush those lineups on the boards.

Oh, don't kid me. I'd buy League Pass just to watch your team. Those two would be SO much fun together. I just don't know how competitive they could be together at this point in time.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
Time for me to hate myself:

Clips select Roy Hibbert.

I really like this Dirk-Hibbert front court pairing.  I don't know why you hate it.

My dislike of Hibbert goes back to my days as a Pacers season ticket holder. He's improved by leaps and bounds, but seeing him miss layup after layup and rack up fouls every minute got old back in '09.

So it's not a rational dislike. It's a "COME ON" type dislike. He's much better now. An All-Star, even.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Wasn't crazy about the Philly trade for them, but Pierce + Millsap + 3 third rounders could be a very nice balanced starting lineup if those third rounders are drafted well.

That's my plan. Millsap was just as productive as Aldridge minus some scoring. Better rebounder for a small guy.

I swapped very similar players and moved my three future picks way down to target the last group of useful players. I like the trade.

Millsap is 6'8 with shoes on, really closer to 6'6. LaMarcus Aldridge is a legit 6'10 who can defend either frontcourt spot and score from 15 feet on in basically on anyone.

So you're saying Millsap wears high heels on the court?

(And height w/o shoes on really doesn't matter because he's playing the game w/ shoes on.  It can generally affect wingspan, which is important, but even that can vary.)

But I absolutely agree that there is a significant difference between Aldridge and Millsap outside of their statistics in favor of Aldridge.  If a team tries to play an undersized defender against Aldridge, you can make them pay by lobbing the ball to him on the low post and he will make a short turn around jumper/baby hook right over the top of his defender.  Defensively, taller PFs (like Pau, KG) cannot do that over Aldridge, but could do that over Millsap.

I also second IP's claim that Aldridge is a guy you can isolate on offense whereas I haven't seen Millsap do that as effectively.

6'6.25 w/o shoes, 6'7.25 with.

6'10 without shoes

Hence, 'legit 6'10'

Dirk can shoot over the top of almost anyone 6'9" and under.  Hibbert showed the beginning potential of the ability to be able to score over smaller players in that Heat series.  The Pacers just never seemed to be dedicated enough to that plan.  Even shots he was missing I was thinking, man those are good shots, he has to keep taking those.  I expect to see a considerably improved Hibbert next season.

Your team has a go to scorer on offense, a legit defensive presence in the paint, and you will make any team pay that tries to go small on you.

I like your direction so far.

Nice. but I hate you for what you're allowing Roy Hobbs to do. DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY ARGUMENTS WE'RE GOING TO HEAR ABOUT FG%? DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU'VE DONE?

That was one of the two other guys I was debating between. Nice pickup if his ankles hold up.

Great pick up. One of my favorite non-Celtics and yet I've never managed to draft him. He struggled early last season, but finished strong.

And I'm a big believer in Win Score, which loves Joakim (10.7 average over the past three seasons) ahead of some higher profile centers.

Just catching up from being at lunch....

The Brooklyn Nets select Serge Ibaka and Kenneth Faried.

it's a bridge under the water now, but in the 1st and 2nd rounds GMs are not supposed to pick if a previous GM missed their pick.

In rounds 3-13 they can.

But it's always a good idea to be ubuntu and play by the rules...

It doesn't matter much here b/c I don't think either Faried or Ibaka (as nice as they  are) qualify as BPA at that pick...

I think it's pretty slow. Not an ideal fit.

I would've gone with a quick-footed center alongside Dirk. More mobility and range defensively. Similar to what Tyson Chandler brought the Mavs two years ago.

Oh, Joakim Noah just picked, I can his name ... that is who I would've picked for Dirk.

There's another C on the board I was strongly considering. Perhaps even a better C.

But Noah is a better defender, rebounder, and passer than that other guy, and has 5 fewer years of tread on his tires, so I felt compelled to go in that direction.

That said, whoever ends up with that other C will be happy.
