I thought Danny Granger was a great second option for LeBron James.

A very skilled shooter with terrific range. Clever player. He doesn't spend or need lots of time on the ball to be an effective scorer. More comfortable as a 1-2 dribble guy than someone who hogs the ball 8 seconds at a time.

I thought the Granger / LeBron forward combination was a major matchup problem.

I like Anderson Varejao. I am a big fan of his. But I don't see how his defense/rebounding can match the offensive advantages that Granger brought to the table.

Trade I couldn't confirm until now, sorry guys!

DET trades Anderson Varejao, 6.3, 6.21, 10.3
DAL trades Danny Granger, 7.5, 8.1, 12.1
Steal for Dallas, IMHO.

May I ask why? I am not seeing it for Dallas.
Because as far as I am concerned Varejao is one of the best defensive frontcourt players in the league. He also rebounds and runs extremely well.

Granger to me has been getting less and less efficient and more and more turnover prone. I also think he's average at best on defense. With 6.1 and the ability to replace Granger with Green, not being able to get a player of Varejao's caliber at forward at 6.1, and picking up 2 6 rounders on top of everything else, for me makes this a steal for Dallas. It creates balance and depth without giving up that much at the small forward position(Granger's spot).

while i like the picks DAL got, IMO Granger is simply the better player and Varejao has only played in 38% of the games over the past 2 seasons b/c of various injuries.

Granger isn't a better player for us, though.

Also, we're not too concerned about an injured wrist becoming a chronic condition.  As Edgar said, AV just destroyed Team USA inside.

It's a good thing we're playing international ball in the CBNBA then.

We replaced Granger with a player who scores at only a slightly lesser rate, and who does it at the same efficiency.  Green is also able to switch to the 4 more than Granger is.

This was the realization I had when we'd traded Noah for Gay.

I feel a player like Granger will be the better fit with CP3. And I think a talented PG like Paul will bring out the best in Granger.

Granger has played better at PF than Green has.

A much better offensive player + a better defensive player. Equal rebounders.

This I agree with completely. Granger "fits" better on your team than he did on Dallas. Still think you paid an extremely high price.

and 2 more 6th rounders?

that will fill needs in every position early
IMHO
hope thats how it goes

Lucky and cff got a real goto guy
I am happy for Detroit too
i think thats one of the best best case scenario fo both
and they have a great 7 round to come

Yeah, me too, Granger's scoring efficiency would go way up with a creator like CP3 (or a LeBron) setting him up for looks.

True. But thanks to the other trades we made, we're still positioned to have a 10-man rotation by the end of the 9th round.

Edgar this says you got 6.3 and 6.21 on top of having 6.1.

Varejao is better for your team than Granger and easily replaceable with your current 6.1 pick.

6.3 is an upgrade from 7.5

6.21 is an upgrade from 8.1

10.3 is an upgrade from 12.1

Yeah, I don't buy that.  I'd prefer Green on defense.  Rebounding is similar, as is passing ability.  Granger is better on offense, but the gap isn't as big as some think.

The gap between Varejao and whoever we could grab at 6.1 is a lot bigger than the Granger / Green gap.  Plus, we landed two 6th rounders.

That's blatantly false.
