Green is also able to switch to the 4 more than Granger is.
Granger has played better at PF than Green has.

A much better offensive player + a better defensive player. Equal rebounders.

Yeah, I don't buy that.  I'd prefer Green on defense.  Rebounding is similar, as is passing ability.  Granger is better on offense, but the gap isn't as big as some think.

The gap between Varejao and whoever we could grab at 6.1 is a lot bigger than the Granger / Green gap.  Plus, we landed two 6th rounders.

That's blatantly false.

Um, no?

We didn't expect to have your vote, anyway, so I'll take this with a grain of salt.

Granger played a lot of power forward for the Pacers in 2010. About half of his minutes. Indiana won a lot of games (several big comebacks) by playing Granger at PF.

Granger played better there (at PF) than Jeff Green ever has. He is so much more skilled as scorer and does a much better job of punishing advantageous matchups. He also did a better job fighting bigger bodies for position in the post (defensively) than Green does.

Trade I couldn't confirm until now, sorry guys!

DET trades Anderson Varejao, 6.3, 6.21, 10.3
DAL trades Danny Granger, 7.5, 8.1, 12.1
Steal for Dallas, IMHO.

May I ask why? I am not seeing it for Dallas.
Because as far as I am concerned Varejao is one of the best defensive frontcourt players in the league. He also rebounds and runs extremely well.

Granger to me has been getting less and less efficient and more and more turnover prone. I also think he's average at best on defense. With 6.1 and the ability to replace Granger with Green, not being able to get a player of Varejao's caliber at forward at 6.1, and picking up 2 6 rounders on top of everything else, for me makes this a steal for Dallas. It creates balance and depth without giving up that much at the small forward position(Granger's spot).

and 2 more 6th rounders?
or I am missing something
that will fill needs in every position early
IMHO
hope thats how it goes

Lucky and cff got a real goto guy
I am happy for Detroit too
i think thats one of the best best case scenario fo both
and they have a great 7 round to come

Edgar this says you got 6.3 and 6.21 on top of having 6.1.

Varejao is better for your team than Granger and easily replaceable with your current 6.1 pick.

6.3 is an upgrade from 7.5

6.21 is an upgrade from 8.1

10.3 is an upgrade from 12.1

yup
this was our thinkig nick
ty for putting this up that clear
:D
i think we empower our team over all
and love that

Yeah.  It's not like we traded Granger for Green.

In the trade, we improved our defense, our rebounding, and our inside scoring, and we made our team more versatile and less vulnerable to big teams, while sacrificing only a small amount of outside scoring.  Plus, we'll be able to build a deeper team with our upgraded draft picks.

I'm not worried about a few points less in scoring.  This move makes us much better than we were.  (And it should work out fine for Lucky / Rebus, too.  Granger is a nice fit on that team.)

Okay, well (deep exhale), I just cannot see it for Dallas at this point.

I am looking forward to seeing what you do with your picks in the 6th round. Maybe I'll understand it better then. But right now, I just don't see this move helping your team.

I'm sorry guys. I had no idea I'm up first in the coaches round.

With that in mind, let me hire Greg Popovich as the Derps' coach.

I think last year we said that it's NOT a bad idea --- since the coaches round is a rolling round -- to make your pick and post who's up next. ie:

-----------

Harlem Globetrotters select Coach James Naismith

Yoki is up next in the coaches round.

------------

Also if you're able to PM the GM that's swell.

EDIT: Just so you know, so everyone knows, rules for coaches are the same as for players, except you can poach them from overseas as well.

So a viable coach might be: Byron Scott, cuz he's alive and has shown a continued interest in coaching.

A viable coach might not be: Dennis Johnson. Cuz, he passed.

Okay, so pick your coach and then please inform (by PM) the next GM on the list that it their pick. Make your pick and inform whoever is next that it is their turn.

I thought that was a good system in the past. Easy to lose track of when you are up without the time slots. I thought this helped keep things moving in the past.

So Celtic Fan Forever is next. If Yoki could PM him and let him know he's up now, that would be great.

Has wdleehi posted anything in reference to the coaching criteria?  i.e., can retired coaches, college coaches, etc., all be drafted?

No, I don't think so. I pressed the search button and searched for coach on the 2012 CB Draft Rules page but it didn't find anything. No mention of coaches.

I presume the same rule applies to coaches as players -- if a player has a contract abroad, he is ineligible for the duration of the contract. If a player has retired, unless he has given a recent indication of coming back (within last 60 days Wdleehi said), he won't be eligible.

No idea what would happen with college coaches. Ineligible like the college players or can they get out of the contracts? I presume they'd be eligible. No draft for coaches.

I don't believe so.

IIRC last year we made the shift -- with the addition of the weekend round -- to real life/living coaches. But that's pure specu-remember-ation on my part.

Oh and wdleehi said you HAD to draft Rick Pitino, Roy. Sorry. ;D
