Green is also able to switch to the 4 more than Granger is.
Granger has played better at PF than Green has.
A much better offensive player + a better defensive player. Equal rebounders.
Yeah, I don't buy that. I'd prefer Green on defense. Rebounding is similar, as is passing ability. Granger is better on offense, but the gap isn't as big as some think.
Granger played a lot of power forward for the Pacers in 2010. About half of his minutes. Indiana won a lot of games (several big comebacks) by playing Granger at PF.
Granger played better there (at PF) than Jeff Green ever has. He is so much more skilled as scorer and does a much better job of punishing advantageous matchups. He also did a better job fighting bigger bodies for position in the post (defensively) than Green does.
again We are not making a one on one trade here.
Yeah. It's not like we traded Granger for Green.
In the trade, we improved our defense, our rebounding, and our inside scoring, and we made our team more versatile and less vulnerable to big teams, while sacrificing only a small amount of outside scoring. Plus, we'll be able to build a deeper team with our upgraded draft picks.
I'm not worried about a few points less in scoring. This move makes us much better than we were. (And it should work out fine for Lucky / Rebus, too. Granger is a nice fit on that team.)
