Lee wanted a few more $$$?, with pavs in the deal , max salary lee can get in the first year is now 0.85+0.85+1.09+0.76=3.55*1.5+0.1 ~ 5.4 millyeah with pavs in the deal lee can get a starting salary of about 5.4 millgood deal still i thinks.
There is a minimum salary trade exception in the CBA, been there in previous agreements, you can take on min guys without sending anythingWe might get some 40 year old euro bust that never signed with portland for pavs, their version of moralles

This isn't including Stiemsma'a QO, which does still count against the cap, but not lux tax calculations.

What would be the motivation for either side? Does Portland need to send out salary to make the deal work? I can't say I'm too up-to-date on Portland's cap situation.
Quote from: KGs Knee on July 19, 2012, 11:38:42 PMWow, looks like I should be glad I've been at work this whole time. Caught a glimpse of the happenings while I was at break (AROUND 6-ISH).Doesn't look like I missed much, other than the roller coaster ride of tweets and rumors.Yikes, sounds like David West part 2.But isn't it different because Lee actually wants to sign with us?Anyway TPs all around when the boss gets off my back *and when it's actually confirmed*. This is as good as a Celtic win.

Scott Souza on the trade:http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/sports/pros_and_colleges/x1975586388/Celtics-set-to-acquire-Lee-from-Rockets
The obstacle appeared to be meeting Lee’s salary demands. When Allen left, and the team couldn’t pull off a sign-and-trade with Terry, they were left with the bi-annual exception of $1.9 million or veteran’s minimum deals at about $1.4 million, if they were unable to put together another sign-and-trade.But Ainge was able to connect with former teammate, now Rockets coach, Kevin McHale yesterday when the team reportedly agreed to send last year’s draft picks JaJuan Johnson, E’Twaun Moore, former Boston College standout Sean Williams, and the 2013 second-round draft pick — which originally belonged to Charlotte — the team was awarded as compensation for Jeff Green’s heart ailment to the Rockets for Lee in the creative, and potentially tenuous, sign-and-trade.
The proposed trade for Lee comes within two weeks of the five-year anniversary of the trade that sent five players and two draft picks to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Garnett when McHale was the Wolves’ general.
