Source now says additional team may not need to be involved to make the Lee deal happen.

Good thing I never decided to follow him... I follow a lot of people that deal with the Celts though.

I now follow for laughs... good times.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Now Bulpett saying that Suns or Hornets could be involved.

Getting word PHX & New Orleans are the teams that were - and still may be - involved in Celt deal for Courtney Lee. #icecreamheadache

If a third team is involved, it's because of "Base Year Compensation" issues is my guess.

The rule:

Quote
If a team is over the cap and re-signs its Larry Bird or Early Bird free agent with a raise greater than 20%, in order to trade the player in a sign-and-trade arrangement, then the player's outgoing salary for trade purposes is either his previous salary or 50% of his new salary, whichever is greater. The team receiving the player always uses his new salary.

I haven't analyzed this at all, but if there's a hold up, that could be part of it.

I hate to interrupt the fight here but some people have said in this thread that we couldn't resign Moore for a year if he gets waived by Houston.  From the collective bargaining agreement... and I've read this collective bargaining agreement three times and posted excerpts to answer people's questions and haven't received a single TP for it.  I'm not begging here but...).

So anyway, here is the relevant part;

"(g)
If a Team trades a player and the assignee Team subsequently terminates the Player’s Contract, the assignor Team shall not be permitted to sign the player to a new Contract until at least thirty (30) days have passed following the date all conditions to the trade were satisfied (or until at least twenty (20) days have passed in the case of a trade that occurs during the period from the last day of a Season through the first day of the following Regular Season)."

After this section it goes in to talking about BRI.  So unless there is an amendment in another section that applies, this is the rule.  This is the CBA that is in effect now.

Strange, because Larry Coon's CBA FAQ says something completely different:

http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q97

Quote
A team cannot reacquire a player they traded away during that season (a season being July 1 - June 30). If he is waived by his new team, then he cannot re-sign with his original team until the one-year anniversary of the trade, or until the July 1 following the end of his contract, whichever comes first. However, if a team trades a player's draft rights, they can reacquire the player during the same season.

Are you reading the previous CBA?  That was the rule under the CBA that just expired, but not the current one.

Last time I checked, the new CBA wasn't online yet, although it was possible to request paper copies.

lee can't get more than 4.2 mill, and minimun contracts don't count as incoming salary anyhows, rockets will only need enough outgoing to absorb JJJ, which lee they should be able to do easily with half of any deal lee gets

That was my assumption. That loophole has been closed.

Why trade Moore when the Rockets will waive him? Pointless. Moore was fine for us.
