Dallasbasketball.com suggesting potential s&t for terry involves calderon, who makes 10.56 million. How would Ainge construct this trade?

Is this Mike Fisher's idea? He posted something again about it last night, but I couldn't open the link.

It would take a collection of small contracts, like JJJ, Moore, and Williams, to get Terry. Those contracts would probably go to Toronto, Calderon to Dallas, and Terry to Boston.

Problem is such a trade would eat up some of Dallas' remaining cap space (unless Dallas could send out some other payroll in addition to Terry). They may want to preserve that space so they can make a bid on Scola later today.

I haven't crunched the numbers, but I think if Dallas sent out Vince Carter in such a deal, it could work. How ironic would it be to send Carter back to Toronto?

Dallas trades Vince Carter and Jason Terry (S&T), receives Jose Calderon
Boston trades JaJuan Johnson, Sean Williams, E'Twaun Moore, receives Jason Terry
Toronto trades Jose Calderon, receives Vince Carter, JaJuan Johnson, Sean Williams, and E'Twaun Moore.

I suspect Toronto would also get some cash, from Boston and/or Dallas, to cover some salaries. Of the players the Raptors would receive, only Johnson's contract is fully guaranteed; the others could be cut for some payroll savings/cap space.

... and here’s an ‘anything’: a multi-way S&T that brings Calderon to Dallas at a cost of maybe just DoJo:

Wow, Calderon is making $10M+, I can't believe Dallas would want that contract.

Also, who is DoJo?

This makes a TON of sense from all teams involved.  This can't happen until the Scola situation is resolved, because it only works if Dallas is at least $5 million under the cap before the trade, since they had to renounce Terry's Bird rights.  But, if someone else wins the Scola bid, I think this is a very likely deal.

when do we find out who wins the Scola bidding?

Calderon's contract only has 1 year left, leaving Dallas room to go in any direction next summer.

I don't think Dallas renounced Terry or I hope they didn't because they can't sign and trade Terry if they did.  Thou can't sign and trade free agents who aren't "yours."

I would hope that if they had renounced him the Dallas newspaper would have picked up on the fact and realized a sign and trade is not possible. I'm betting they held off on renouncing him just in case they got a sign and trade opportunity.

The Fisher article says that they renounced JET's Larry Bird Rights, but not the player himself, so they can still do a sign and trade.

So we do or don't want the Mavs to take Scola?

Thanks Lucky so finally things should be resolved by tonight or the morning id assume unless if this fails and Danny can pull a rabbit out his ass.
