This needs to get done, it is pretty much our only hope at landing another impact player right? This is the last shoe to fall and our offseason is a wrap. Well have the MLE to fill SG position, use vet min or BAE on a big, and fill remaining roster wth Summer League guys Joseph etc

A sign and trade with the Mavs is the one way to free up and re-purpose the MLE, presumably for Courtney Lee.

The other target, OJ Mayo, is said to have left Phoenix without a contract offer, as he is expecting to be paid 8 mil per season.  Mayo's qualifying offer from the Grizzlies would have been 7.4 million.

If the Celtics could trade 5 million worth of salaries out (S&T Dooling, E'Twaun Moore, Sean Williams & Jujuan Johnson), they could accept 150% of the outgoing salary, or 7.5 million.
A three year deal with 4.5% raises (as per new CBA) should get them pretty close to the 8 million AAV.  We'd probably have to throw in a draft pick and cash to entice Memphis to agree to such a deal.

My guess is that Mayo is still feeling out the market, and the Celtics are stuck waiting like his other suitors.
