Quote
When Allen joined Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce in Boston back in 2007, the new generation Big Three was born. Miami Heat would soon follow in 2010 when LeBron James and Chris Bosh teamed up with Dwyane Wade to form the next Big Three.

Lebron, actually admitted on national TV after last year's 2011 Celtics/Heat series, the reason why he teamed up with Wade and Bosh, because he couldn't be beat the Celtics. Yikes, Lebron!

I'm pretty sure Celts fans who sympathise with Allen will cheer and clap once he starts draining those 3 pointers against Boston.

Don't be surprise if see some Celts fans turn into Heat fans, because of Ray.lol

Dragging his kids across the country to take a 50% pay cut.

Yeah, I'm not getting it either. Ray never originated as a Celtic. Miami is his 4th NBA stop. He was never going to get his number retired here and, let's be honest, had fallen to a fourth wheel over the last two years.

He was an amazing player that helped to contribute mightily to a championship here and 5 years of outstanding basketball. He gave me some great memories.

But he went elsewhere. It happens and in modern professional sports its a quite common occurrence. If he had been traded out of town is there really any difference? He's gone.

I hope Ray finds whatever he's looking for that Boston couldn't give him so long as it doesn't cause Boston to not attain their goals of winning a championship.

And what #wheel do you think he will be in Miami?  People are reacting because none of the reasons given make logical sense. He moved his family so he might not have to move his family. He was the 4th wheel in Boston so he goes to a team where there are 3 All Stars in their prime. He was upset at coming off the bench so he took a role elsewhere off the bench. He was upset KG got such a nice deal so he took less money elsewhere. It all points to a petulant, overly sensitive,  ego driven guy,  not at all what people thought,  so it hurts.

Ray is obviously affected by the negative backlash of his decision to join the Heat. This ad screams of damage control. He made a choice and he should just stand by it. He should know by now what Boston sports is all about. Sorry Ray, you're with the enemy now.

Meaningless PR move.  Nothing more.

Goodbye, good riddance, Ray!

this reeks of damage control

No one is really bothered that he left us, I think that's why you are still not getting it.

They're bothered first about how he left, and by going to Miami he's actually attempting to "cause Boston to not attain their goals of winning a championship". They're our biggest obstacle for Boston to reaching the promiseland as it stands. They also eliminated us two years in a row from the playoffs, and then you go to play with them? That's BS.

And then all the other reports that keep coming out with problems in our locker-room, etc. adding fuel to the fire.
He left as a free agent. Once his contract is over he holds no responsibility to do what's in Boston's best interest. He did what was in his best interest. If he goes to Miami who cares? Again, his contract was over he has no need to make sure he doesn't make the Celtics chances of winning greater. Once he leaves here his responsibility is to the team he signs with.

As for all the stuff that was reported about the behind the scenes goings on, this goes on all the time. I take it with a grain of salt.

folks should really get off there high horses and stop criticizing others who are being critical of Ray.

This is a pr move on his part. If anyone thinks that is classy, in my opinion they can't differentiate a classy move from a move  done in complete self interest.

Classy would have been him calling up management and teammates and telling them what he was doing. Indeed, he may have done that.

I dont get the argument "well Ray allen is a free agent he can do what he wants!"

of course he can do what he wants...thats his right...but its also our right as fans to be upset if someone who was here for 5years decides to bolt ship and join our #1 rival for half the price.

NO ONE is angry that ray left...its that he acted like a total diva on his way out and joined our rival...you leave a boston team and join the Yankees, colts, heat you are going to be hated..

look, Im a Celtics fan over a ray allen fan...im not going to sit there and cheer on the guy as he rains 3's on us to prevent #18 no matter what he did for us in the past....
