People are angry because it's a like a half reality/metaphor signalling the end of the big 3 era- like losing Ray will send us into another 20 years of hopelessness and that's painful to think about.
Secondly he went to a rival in the East that many of us 'team' enthusiasts in Boston are disgusted at. Funny thing is that Ray already joined two other superstars in coming to Boston- which is what gave the Heat the idea to join in the first place.
Ray is a grown man who gave everything to the Celtics and Boston while he was here. He thought it was time for a change, mostly for reasons we'll never know about- but it's his choice and I'll still be thankful for everything he gave to me and my team. He'll go into the Hall as a Celtic when the dust settles.
No he won't.[/quote]
But who are we to say?
At the end of the day, this man could very well win two rings with MIA...while I hope he doesn't, this IS a possibility.
So IF he wins ring(s) with MIA...and BOS (STILL) chooses NOT to retire his jersey, then I'm sure MIA will.
And Ray Allen would STILL end up in the HOF, regardless.
What I sincerely hope for BOS (and MIA):
1. Is that Ray plays well with MIA
2. Shoots like 25% in every game he plays vs BOS
3. Meets BOS in the ECF next season
4. Thanks to a healthy BOS team with AB, Jet, Jeff Green,
and measurable contributions from Jared, Fab and Joseph
(as well as the USUAL suspects) - we BEAT them.
5. Number 4 is a distinct possibilty - the majority of those
players I listed in #4 are YOUNGER, and I hope less liable
to injury.
In the end, we lost perhaps the best shooter in the game - someon who stretched the floor for BOS. But he didn't screw us over, per se.
Let's just separate the angst from reality on here.
