no way you can waste 2 roster spots on project guards like christmas and moore. Maybe one makes the team..but no way do both
Sounds better than keeping one and filling a second roster spot with a veteran NBA journeyman guard who has a proven track record of, at best, mediocrity.
In this case I wouldn't consider either of them "projects." XMas would know from the get-go that he is a 3rd-string 2-guard, who is there for practice, mop-up minutes, and energy if he ever gets in the game. If he does more than that (which I think he is capable of) then it is all gravy.
Moore is clearly being tested to see if he can get the backup PG role, which we need from him. I understand Dooling is very well respected and a great teammate, but he has been on a handful of different teams in his career (as a former lottery pick, no less.) The fact is: Dooling isn't that good, we know that, he knows that, the whole league knows that. Moore on the other hand could be better.
