no way you can waste 2 roster spots on project guards like christmas and moore. Maybe one makes the team..but no way do both

Agree.

I agree with the sentiment...but I wouldn't even consider either of these guys "projects".  When I think of a project, I think of someone with potential.  These are guys whose cielings are probably end of the rotation players.

well no matter what you think of  them...moore and christmas (to me) are fighting for spot 15 on this team. both won't make the team

Sounds better than keeping one and filling a second roster spot with a veteran NBA journeyman guard who has a proven track record of, at best, mediocrity.

Why?  Considering I think both of them have a cieling of mediocrity, I would rather have at least one player who has shown that he can do it on an NBA level, over two guys who we just hope can be as good as that.

In this case I wouldn't consider either of them "projects."  XMas would know from the get-go that he is a 3rd-string 2-guard, who is there for practice, mop-up minutes, and energy if he ever gets in the game.  If he does more than that (which I think he is capable of) then it is all gravy.

Moore is clearly being tested to see if he can get the backup PG role, which we need from him.  I understand Dooling is very well respected and a great teammate, but he has been on a handful of different teams in his career (as a former lottery pick, no less.)  The fact is:  Dooling isn't that good, we know that, he knows that, the whole league knows that.  Moore on the other hand could be better.

I'm willing to grant their a higher ceiling, especially Christmas, since I know nothing about him.  Moore, I suppose, has something similar to Eddie House level as his ceiling.  I would be happier plucking two guys from the D-League than two veterans who have NBA jobs mainly because they are veterans.

neither are NBA players. I will be very disappointed if either make the Celtics

I think you are selling Eddie short.  He was a spectacular shooter when he was on, and had one of the quickest releases I have ever seen.  Moore is a good shooter, but not on that level.

boston needs a SG that will contribute..not a SG that will be the 14th or 15th guy that does nothing. Christmas is that guy...as well as moore. both need to go away

You need some practice guys and I like him but I agree that he is far from ideal.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I like Christmas over Moore right now. He does more, his name lacks apostrophes, and he plays better defense.
