Wojo does a tremendous job once again! I find it ironic that the entire piece chronicles everything that Doc, Danny and Rondo supposedly did wrong throughout Ray's tenure in green. The one thing missing from Ray's "source" is did he do anything wrong? Growing up I was always told it takes two.

I am still very disappointed in Ray's decision. I thought he knew what it meant to be a Celtic. He earned the right to choose his next team and I respect the process, but I also thought sentimentality would play some role. Especially after the fans didn't quit on the team after their Game 6 dud.

Maybe time will heal the hurt, but I will never get past one of the players that reinvigorated this storied franchise turning his back on the team, city and fans.

Call me crazy, but all the stuff rondo did to "sour their relationship" - engage in locker room debate over basketball , sign a LESS than market extension, seems like he ...um...didn't do anything wrong.  It actually seems like ray is a jealous diva from this article and good riddance.  What a baby.

I don't respect this decision

well Pierce is still under contract, more like KG deserve more praise this off season. He didn't even test the market, he just went "Danny, give me a good deal, and I'll sign right away!"

Pierce has never let near trade rumors send him out of town, but Pierce had also never struggled as much as Ray did this year, Ray needs to realize if the winning percentage wasn't SOOOO much higher when he went out that we wouldn't have kept Bradley as the starter.

Rays teammates and fans didn’t try to trade him, but he’s sticking it to them too. That’s hardly classy.

You guys wouldnt be complaining as much if Ray was traded to Memphis and THEN signed to Miami right?

It hurts, but the Danny played with fire (Understandable) You cant preach "What it means to be a Celtic" and then try to get rid of him at the same time. It hurts he chose Miami...but honestly a 37 year old player on his las legs. Where was he going? No interest from Chicago, the Clippers just signed Jamal Crawford. The only good time that offered a good deal was Miami. And despite circumstances...if you just cant get a long with a co worker of yours and you have the opportunity to work with with others on a good deal....you take it?

Im not talking as a Celtics fan, Im talking as a realist. As I posted before, Ray will be no more than a spot up shooter on Miami anyway. Might not be all its cracked up to be. But it may give him peace.

The Celtics will be ok. He's not as needed. Obviously by Danny trying to trade him and the signing of Jason Terry. It is what it is. I expect the C's to have a great season anyway.

Seriously sounds like Ray knew he was getting outplayed by the young PG and got upset when Rondo told him where to be on the floor. I mean if anyone wants to talk about rumors of being traded look at Rondo over the years. Every year since they won they've talked about trading the guy. Also look at Pierce for the longest they've talked about moving him. I mean come on Ray you almost were traded at the end of your career from a team you had spent 4 1/2 seasons with. So was our CELTIC Paul Pierce to the NETS of all teams. You know what he said its a business! But he put his head down kept playing and you didn't hear a peep outta him or "Sources" that he was upset that it had happened. Whatever I am done with Ray. He's gone. He's the enemey now.

I think the "stick it to the Celtics" part is Woj's conjecture.

The article does a good job showing why Ray felt slighted, whether those reasons were real or exaggerated.  Woj points out why Ray wasn't comfortable in Boston.  I think he takes a logical leap, though, and assumes that he signed in Miami as a middle finger to Boston.  I don't buy that.  I think he chose Miami because they're going to be winning titles and he likes the city.  Where else was he going to sign?  Memphis (i.e., the violent crime capital of the country)?  Minnesota (crappy organization, colder than heck)?  Or Phoenix (would you want to play for Richard Sarver)?

He chose Miami because it was his best option besides Boston, and he didn't want to play for the Celtics any more.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
If this is true then the morbid strictly about his ego. I hate even more.

Oh BTW Sir Roy, before they signed Jamal Crawford, the Clippers wanted him.

More money...check
Starting job...check
Championship Contender...with him, check
Great place to live...check

This is what it is, this is a stick it to Boston because he did not like the fact that he was being shopped and the PG is trying to tell him what to do. Ego driven. What happened to "the consummate professional"?
