Am I the only one not really happy with this?  Bass is a pretty good offensive player but his lack of defense KILLED us in the Miami series and in many situations throughout the playoffs.

Our lack of Jeff Green and scoring killed us in the Miami series.  If we play them again next year J.G. will be on Bron Bron duty all series.

At this point, who guards LBJ in the playoffs?  I sure hope it isn't Bass...

Watch the 4th quarter of game 7 of that Miami series.  Bass let Lebron get past him EVERY time down the court.  I was screaming at my TV that whole quarter to get this guy off the court - he is a liability.

There was really no choice but to bring him back once Jet took the MLE.

Yeah, but who else would we have put out there?  There aren't too many players who can guard LeBron in that situation, and Bass wasn't getting much help D behind him.  I agree 100% that I hope he's around for a bench role, and 100% agree that I don't love his D...  but he was good enough to help up get to the ECF.  Takes a little of the pressure off trying to find another PF, or to force the kids into playing before they're ready.

my guess is 3 yrs for $21M, I think that may be a little higher than we'd like but he's worth $6M based on his last season, the best of his career.  He is a hard worker and supposedly an awesome teammate.  Keep those guys around for a little extra premium.

I'm sure he got a contract slightly better than what Baby got, which was 4 years $26M correct? I'd say ~$21/22M

You mean his "lack of defense" when he was asked to guard Lebron on the perimeter?  That's hardly fair in my opinion.

Overall, Bass' defense was top-notch.  Statistically, he measured out in the elite range.  He turned out to be a really good fit in our system, which was something that I never expected.

This team is becoming loaded...especially if Ray comes back

KG/Melo?
Bass/Sully
Pierce/Green?
Bradley/Ray?
Rondo/Terry

If they stay healthy that could get number 1 seed in the east. If they take the regular season serious of course..

Yeah you're talking about a guy no one could guard in LeBron James.  I've said it before and I'll say it again: our problem was not defense, it was scoring.  If we could score at the end of that game we win.

He's a great back up and if we start him, well, we almost went to the Finals with him as our starting PF.

I'm happy.

We still have the Q.O. to Stiemer, we will probably bring back Wilcox on the minimum, we drafted 2 centers in Sullinger and Melo, and Sully will probably play some for us next year, and we still could get Kristic since we have his Bird Rights.  KG will play there too but not that much.

Well who didn't LeBron get by in the playoffs this year? Besides Bass is a true PF, the fact that he handled LBJ as well as he did was impressive.

Bass did well in our defensive system next to KG, glad he's back. After all what other options would you replace him with?

I was waiting for someone to say exactly this.  Really, Faf - i could have guarded LBJ better in that 4th quarter.  He got waaaay too close to him every time down the floor which allowed him to drive past him and get a layup or dish to an open man because he needed so much help.  Paul should have been guarding him in the 4th quarter of a game 7 anyway, but Bass was seriously pitiful in that quarter.  It wasn't physical - it was mental.  Give him space and make him pass or take an outside shot, right?

Our options are very limited especially regarding big men.  Bass is a high character guy that can hit an open jump shot and has some athleticism to run with Rondo.

As long as its for decent money there is nothing not to like about this.
