Brandon Bass staying. Celtics have reached agreement with power forward on 3-year deal, per Herald source.

Happy about this. Good scorer and potential trade chip. Am I bad for saying that?

Nope.  He fits perfectly on this team with Rondo, but is limited enough that we can be flexible with his minutes.

Our offense is looking really good next year.

yup. bring him off the bench like we have always said.....or start him and work in Sully..either way our bench is looking better and better for next year especially if we get ray ray and Green.

I'd rather have Ray too, but bringing Bass back to me is more significant than retaining Ray.

Three years is good.

Hoping that either JJJ or Sully wrests the starting PF spot away from him in the next year, though.  I'd feel a lot better about Bass if he was coming off the bench.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Good news glad to have him back.

3 seems to be the magic number when it comes to years.

My guess 20mill.

Much more given how few big men we had signed before this news.

Am I the only one not really happy with this?  Bass is a pretty good offensive player but his lack of defense KILLED us in the Miami series and in many situations throughout the playoffs.  I don't have a problem with him coming back if his role is significantly diminished to a 15-20 minute per night guy but we need guys who can guard the 3-4. At this point, who guards LBJ in the playoffs?  I sure hope it isn't Bass...

Watch the 4th quarter of game 7 of that Miami series.  Bass let Lebron get past him EVERY time down the court.  I was screaming at my TV that whole quarter to get this guy off the court - he is a liability.

I'd wager that $20M is a little high, for Danny to have agreed upon already.  I'd feel better with a figure around $15M - $16M.

my guess is 3 yrs for $21M, I think that may be a little higher than we'd like but he's worth $6M based on his last season, the best of his career.  He is a hard worker and supposedly an awesome teammate.  Keep those guys around for a little extra premium.

I thought KG wanted to go back tot he 4?  I don't think Bass will be coming off our bench.  Danny's not done, that's for sure.

No problem, just tell KG he's the pf and Bass is the starting center.

Via Steve Bulpet's (spelling) Twitter. Heard it on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Supposedly for 3 years. Seems like a lot for a 1-trick-pony. Still hoping for S&T or at least having him come off the bench.

Rather have him S&T, but this is ok too (depending on the price tag). Plus I think this year he can improve on Doc's system, being more familiar and all.

Well who didn't LeBron get by in the playoffs this year? Besides Bass is a true PF, the fact that he handled LBJ as well as he did was impressive.

Bass did well in our defensive system next to KG, glad he's back. After all what other options would you replace him with?
