no...because he is going to be starting in boston until at least december

This.

Our G situation will be a bit tenuous until AB gets back, and even then, Avery will need some conditioning time to get in playing shape, right?

So we may not see the AB we all know and love until perhaps January 2013?

Even more reason for Ray to stay in BOS. And knowing Doc, it would take Ray to be playing terribly for him to make lineup changes.

Let's see what the combo of Bradley Moore and Joseph can do...maybe find a tall young guard in the d-league and develop him.

I am against trying to replace Ray with two guy that have to earn a spot as the 15th man this season.

If no Ray, it is time to bring back Pietrus.

AMEN..not even sure I like Pietrus as a STARTING SG for the first 3 months of the season..I prefer danny getting another 2...

Moore and Joseph will be D league bound..if we are expecting them to start until bradley returns, we are in trouble...plus joseph is a 3

We don't win the championship in 2008 without him. No chance I'm booing him. Without him, I wouldn't have witnessed my favorite sports team win a championship in my lifetime to this point.

I'd probably boo if he went to Miami. We almost beat that team for crying out loud and he signs with them for ring chasing? Crazy if you ask me...

cheer, he has done too much for the Celtics. He got us a championship and we should cheer for him just for that. I don't care if he ends up playing for the Heat or Lakers, Ray Allen is all class.

The thought of seeing Ray's mom in a sparkly, bedazzled Heat jersey is sickening.

I don't get how there is so much optimism for Ray returning. The Celtics have offered him DOUBLE what Miami will pay him, and he is still testing the market. How often does that happen? If he wanted to be here, he'd take the money.

Eddie House got cheered when he returned with the Heat.

Ray gets cheered.

Didn't Eddie get traded away? Not the same thing.

ya Eddie got traded.  This will also be different if we infact are also the ones offering the most money.

Eddie got traded to the Knicks, then signed with the Heat as a free agent.
Yup

Won't boo him, but also won't cheer him. Will sit quietly. I hope the reports I am hearing tonight are wrong, but it almost seems certain he is gone.  Guess I can't blam him for wanting to go somewhere where he will have a better chance at a Ring.

we have a better team than miami. sully alone is better than anyone on miami's bench.

How are you getting that "this is all but done with the Heat"?

I think Ray flirted with other teams last time he was in free agency, too.
I could imagine an emotional Ray Alllen saying he went around with an open mind, listened to people interested in his services, but it didn't feel right. His heart was in Boston. He feels attached to the community. It might just be me making myself believe this at this point though.

I have a few thoughts to add...

Ray gave us his heart and soul for 4 long, hard years.

In case y'all forget, the NBA is a business.

There are thousands of factors influencing this decision- literally, thousands.  So, if you say "there is NO reason for ray to take less money to go to the heat" than you are wrong.  And you sound pretty stupid.  It's obvious that there are COUNTLESS Pros/Cons to consider for each potential destination.

And last but not least...

If you can convince yourself that Ray is a bad guy, you can convince yourself of ANYTHING

I can never boo Ray Allen, regardless of what team he plays for. He's my favorite basketball player of all time, second only to Jordan himself. In fact, I may even like Ray more than Jordan.

Ray will never get booed by me, ever.

I view Ray and Eddie's situation as completely different.

Eddie was more like we love you, but don't really have a need for you, and we understand he's lucky to be in the league with few potential suitors...

Ray is more like we love you AND need you AND want you.  Please stay and play for us, and we know you can play for anybody so please if you do leave us let it be anybody but the Heat.

It's like dating.
We dumped Eddie and moved onto someone better and feel like the winner in the breakup, so it's cool we can still be friends.

Ray will be dumping us, and moving on to someone better, he'd be the winner in the breakup, so it will be very tough to be friends after the fact.

It's like Leon Powe can play for anybody he wants and I'd cheer him, but if Garnett just left us and signed with the Heat, I'd boo him (unless we were rebuilding then it's different).

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Well, Eddie House was a former Heat anyways, I can't fault him for returning there, particularly after we gave him the boot. Different circumstances, he started his career there.
