no...because he is going to be starting in boston until at least december

This.

Our G situation will be a bit tenuous until AB gets back, and even then, Avery will need some conditioning time to get in playing shape, right?

So we may not see the AB we all know and love until perhaps January 2013?

Even more reason for Ray to stay in BOS. And knowing Doc, it would take Ray to be playing terribly for him to make lineup changes.

Let's see what the combo of Bradley Moore and Joseph can do...maybe find a tall young guard in the d-league and develop him.

I am against trying to replace Ray with two guy that have to earn a spot as the 15th man this season.

If no Ray, it is time to bring back Pietrus.

If he goes to the Lakers or Miami, I'll boo him with little reservation. Anything else I'll cheer for him, hopefully while he's wearing Celtic green.

The latter would be too much of a betrayal for me.

If... and its a big If... Ray goes to the Heat.. He is dead to me.  Ubuntu is out of the window.  But its alright because everytime we play the Heat, Avery Bradley is going to make him look like he's 50 y.o.

So if he chooses the Heat.. Good riddens, he will be destroyed.  No #20 in the rafters of the greatest franchise in sports and he's going to be a bad guy.. Imagine that guys.. Ray Allen... the bad guy.  I'm throwing up and crying at the same time right now.
nah u trippin wit da bolded where he go aint gon have any effect of him gettin his number retired here dats happening regardless but i co-sign being dissapointed if he leaves but i braced myself for dis a few weeks ago

I will not be going to the Garden any time soon, so I wont have the opportunity either to cheer Allen or boo him. In any event, he has the absolute right to do what he pleases with his life, and I'll wish him the best at whatever decision he arrives at. Why not, this is a free country, right,.... right?
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

Ray gets cheered.

Didn't Eddie get traded away? Not the same thing.

ya Eddie got traded.  This will also be different if we infact are also the ones offering the most money.
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

Exactly.

If Allen goes to Miami I will boo him. If he goes to the Clippers or Grizzlies then you can always say he did so because he wanted to start and he'll deserve the applause.

Let's breakdown how Miami compares to Boston:

Money- Boston

Familiarity with system, coaches, and players-Boston

Starting opportunity-Boston is much more likely than Miami

Shot attempts-Boston. I can't see him getting more attempts in Miami

Title Opportunity-Miami, but it's close. It's not a lock like the media insists

Hospitals-Boston Children's ranks 2nd in the country in Diabates. Miami Children's ranks 50th. Plus, there is also the familiarity with the doctors.

So thinking about this objectively I can't see Allen choosing Miami. If he does, it'll be for reasons (Rondo, trade attempts) other than the ones mentioned above.

If Ray chooses Miami for less money after being labeled the #1 priority by the C's, I think he'll be booed.  I'll certainly be snarling in my armchair.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

I'll boo him if he takes less money to go to our either of our two big rivals. (Lakers two Finals matchups and Heat three playoff series in 3 years)

Since this is all but done with the Heat...I would like to say that I'm going to cheer him for 2008, you can't blame the man for wanting to go out on top. We give Bradley and E'Twaun more minutes so it's a win win!

Of course you cheer him.  If the reports are true that he would be taking $6 millions less (over 2 years) to sign with the Heat because he will have a better chance to win one more championship before he retires, then that is commendable.

If I already won an NBA championship and I was going to a be a role player on a playoff-destined team no matter which team I chose, then I would go with the team that offered me the most money.

Losing to the Heat in the playoffs was painful, but that extra $6 million dollars would help dry my tears real fast.  But if Ray chooses the Heat, he is saying that money won't bring him as much happiness as a ring would.  Good for him.

Like Jeff mentioned on the main page it's not really that much less money when you factor in that he is getting a 3-year offer from Miami ($9M total) versus 2 from us ($12 total), then factor in no state taxes and low local taxes and the after tax money is probably very close.

Plus there is the psychological advantage of 3 years vs. 2, which shows that Miami is more committed to Ray than we are, and the money is simply a matter of cap restrictions.

Then add the fact that I think Ray basically getting traded this year, when he was playing as well as he was for us early in the season, and probably playing through pain, and you can easily see why he wouldn't come back.

But...I have hard time letting him go to the Heat.  If I am Danny, I either offer Ray and no-trade clause (unlikely) or a third year (more likely) after his visit to Miami...and I ultimately believe that is why Ray is even in Miami.  He is trying to get Danny to commit more.
