it all depends on how he leaves.  if he leaves and thx boston and wishes us well, no problem, i would cheer.  if he leaves and doesnt say anything, i probably wont do anything.  if he bad mouths on the way out, then i would boo.

i see ray doing the first (thanking boston).  he is smart and professional.

Boooooooooooo

Betrayal. Worse than a sell out. He will really look our guys, our fans, and Doc in the eye from the opposing team and shut us down in the ECF? The only way he is not a complete scumbag for even visiting Miami and considering this is if he has been truly hurt and betrayed by Celtics--if this is the case they are definitely trying to make it up to him now with their offers. I think I will boo him just for going to Miami and posing/laughing with LeBron and Spoelstra--I mean how could you live with yourself? This is the simplest matter of a shocking lack loyalty and integrity, Ray is the last person I would expect this behavior from, he was all crying after losing and acted like Mr. Integrity. Just makes KG look better and better. He belongs on the Heat-- only LeBron can sympathize with the guilt that should come from profiting by breaking the hearts of your fanbase. I feel so cheated on.

here's what i don't understand about the general argument about Ray not signing with the C's. Those saying he might sign with the heat generally point to either 1) him not getting along with Rondo, 2) best chance for a championship and/or 3) getting his shots/starting

now, 1 and 2 are up for debate. only ray allen can answer that.

but number 3 really gets to me because while the heat are indeed a less deep team than us, so theoretically it's easier to imagine that he'd get more minutes, the ball is absolutely DOMINATED by those 3 in Miami. he's basically going to be the 4th option, behind LBJ/Wade/Bosh. Not only is he going to be at best the 4th option, he's going to be the corner option. That means, "why don't you stand in the corner there Ray and wait for us to kick it out to you just in case we get doubled in the paint". If Ray Allen wanted plays run for him to go along with solid ball movement, then he's more likely to have it in Boston than in iso-heavy Miami. How does averaging about 5-7 shot ATTEMPTS a game sound, with free throws coming in only from techs and late game fouls (something he already gets with the C's anyway)?

Miami wants Ray Allen obviously because he's a top shooter. But they could've just as easily had someone like Nick Young or Jason Kapono fill that role. (I'm just talking about primary role because there are the benefits of having Ray's clutch shooting, the occasional drives to the hoop, etc. etc.).

That's why i don't understand the allure of Miami from that standpoint. If it's the chemistry thing with Rondo, or if it's 'sleeping with the enemy' or if its just coz its south beach, then fine. But as for the basketball side of things, i don't think it really makes sense for him.

If he JOINED any other team than Miami he wouldn't get boo'd . He would be treated at least like Big Baby or better.

For me, its not an "issue" that he is leaving, ok...I understand we tried to trade him...  fair is fair.....but for pete sake ..it wasn't to the bloody  HEAT ..was it ?

I will definitely BOO him.  I got a banner made saying Ray Allen = Record Setter for the Bobcats/Celtics game that I took my son to when he could have tied or broke the record for threes.

I will NEVER forget that he took and hit his first and only 3-point attempt and then did NOT attempt another so he could break the record vs. the Lakers on national TV.  Ray is about Ray.  I learned that that night.  It was CRYSTAL CLEAR!!!

I will try and get TRAITOR printed on the other side when I see him play for the Heat in Charlotte.

In his defense it was best for everyone that he break the record in Boston.  That was one of the most special moments of the past 5 years; it couldn't have been more perfect and that's why that highlight is still showed over and over again, not just by the Celtics but by the NBA as well.

That game vs. the Bobcats was a blowout so there was no need for him to play his typical game down the stretch.  Had it been close he would've likely shot and hit another three.  I'm sorry it didn't work out the way you wanted it to, but it did for the masses.  Your beef with him in this situation is coming from your selfish perspective.  He didn't give you what you wanted and now you're upset.

For the record I would cheer Ray when he comes back to the Garden.  He gave us 5 great years of memories and a banner.  Would i be upset if he left?  Of course.  Is it compounded by the fact that it's the heat?  Hell yes! But Ray is entitled to do whatever he feels is the best decision for him and his family.  Loyalty is a two way street and Danny has not reciprocated.  Let's not forget Ray resigned with us two years ago at a bargain because of loyalty.

Now, I'll likely cheer extra loud when Ray misses a bucket and my dislike for the Heat will likely increase (as if that were possible) but Ray has not done a thing worthy of getting booed in my book.

2 years at 20 mil was a home discount? That's almost as laughable as Ortiz's 1 year 15 mil "hometown discount"

I also think that Danny Ainge has a lot of guilt if Ray is going to Miami, Ainge should never try to trade to Ray or Pierce, this was a mistake, and never heard that Ray Ainge was instranferible, however when Rondo came out, Ainge denied that Rondo was going to be traded.

We all knew this was coming, that Ray was a free agent at season end, and he could do whatever he wanted.

That's why I always hated the idea of hearing and seeing rumors about the Big Three trades.

I'm not the booing kind.

Only with opposing superstars does booing take on meaning of grudging respect anyway.

No reason not to give Ray his due and appreciation.
