God, I hate the Lakers.  They still won't beat OKC if everything stays the way it is now.

I realize we aren't in position to throw stones regarding age, but we should note that with Steve Nash and likely Grant Hill the Lakers add a guy who will turn 39 in February and a guy that will begin the year at 40.   KG just turned a relatively youthful 36.

Pau-32; Kobe-34; Peace-33; Blake-32.

The C's Big 3 were 33,34 and 35 last year.  2 of the 3 were hobbled throughout the playoffs.

Lakers will be old. They may stay healthy through an 82-game season, but it's unlikely.

Bynum for Howard straight up works.

They could even do Bynum + McRoberts + Eyenga for Howard + Richardson
Takes one of Orlando's albatross contracts.
Honestly if I were an Orlando Magic fan I would shoot myself in the face. Bynum for Howard straight up? Would stop watching the NBA. Despite everything DH is still a Top 3 player in the league and the Magic could get a much better deal than just Bynum. Heck, even if you add Artest I'd still not take it.

I don't think there is a single player out there who touches Bynum that a team would willingly trade for Howard without an extension.

The only difference maker I see is if a team was willing to take on Turkoglu.

Totally agree.  It isn't about volume of players, it is about quality.  You can find multiple mediocre players in free agency or in the draft every year.

Finding an elite player like Dwight, the best center in the NBA, and Bynum, the second best center in the NBA is the hard part.

Mediocre filler is easy.  And if I want mediocre filler, I'd prefer cheap mediocre filler over expensive mediocre filler.  The Lopez/Humphries/Brooks/#1 group has 0 All-Star appearances in its past and future.

This is true. They won't be able to afford a good bench which I like.

If I am Orlando and I decide the Bynum is the best offer available, I want future picks and possibly a couple other pieces. LA doesn't have anymore 1st to trade unless it's a 3 way deal and I don't really know what "pieces" LA would have that would interest Orlando.

Orlando shouldn't be  wanting a straight up Bynum for Howard swap. They would be putting everything on an injury prone head case. He is immature and even though he was healthy this past season, the history is there for injury. I would trade for picks and multiple players since it will be nothing other than a rebuilding effort for Orlando.

If I'm Orlando, I let DH walk before trading him to the lakers.

So they use a trade exception and get to keep Sessions and Jordan Hill? Wow, they lakers are back in legit contention. If they land Howard the heat "dynasty" is over. I hate the lakers, but may be content in them winning if it shuts down lebron and co. for good.

Anybody > Lakers

I think people are overrating "future picks".  Any team with Kobe, Nash, Gasol, and Dwight will be picking in the 28, 29, 30 range.  That gets you players like JR Giddens.

And "a couple of other pieces" sounds like overpaid mediocrity to me.  Better to have a young elite player and a clearer cap than a bunch of mediocre players and a clogged cap.

CeltsFan84 - Good Points.

So basically the Lakers Offense will run a bit smoother, now - in Theory.

So basically Kobe will never play Hero Ball, again - in Theory.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Color me shocked. Did not ever believe Nash would possibly don the purple and gold. Staying close to his kids must have really mattered a lot to him (as it should).

Suns got a good return for him, even if those picks are at the tail end of the 1st and 2nd rounds. Sarver's taken a beating for some of his prior deals; he did the right thing for his club this time.

I agree with you on that part of the equation.  If Kobe still feels the need to play near 40 minutes, control the ball, and take deep jumpers, that could be a problem.

The talent level isn't what could potentially derail this in my eyes.  It is Kobe's decision making.

Nash just made me less proud to be Canadian. I want Harper to revoke his citzenship.

Mike Brown is officially on the clock, now.

If the Los Angeles Lakers, with Steve Nash, can't win a title, then it's on him.

Steve Nash, admittedly, gives The Lakers their best opportunity in a while - even though I still see the Rondo's, CP3's, DRose's, Westbrooks - of the NBA eating his lunch.

I can understand Laker Fans jublilation - even if I still don't see them getting by OKC or Spurs.

But they DO have a better opportunity.

More draft picks for Sarver to sell off.

They can always get what they want. This is disgusting.

Celtics can wait 20 years, Nicks can wait, Bulls can wait but the Golden Boy!... No they can't wait. They can always get best player. They can always find a way.

29 stupid teams, 1 golden boy...
