Hate to be a downer, but I can't see us keeping both AB and Allen after this.

Too many guard not enough minutes.

Honestly I wouldnt worry about this, right now Danny is trying to get doc the most talent he can.  Minutes will work themselves out, if Danny and Doc can sell Ray to come back Doc will figure out the rotations.

Yeah, too much talent doesn't happen in the NBA very often. Not something I'd worry about, though Ray could use this as a reason to justify going elsewhere if he wants.

Is anyone else besides myself hoping this deal doesn't go through? A old Jet on a 3yr. Undersized 2 gaurd doesn't seem like the best fit to me. That gives us 2 SG under 6'2!
 Head scratcher!

He's not a 2 guard, he is a combo guard, has played the point in Dallas many times, just looks to score more than distribute.  The Celts have answered 2 needs in one, someone to competently back up Rondo and provide scoring punch off the bench.  Some of the Mavs best lineup have been with Dirk and Terry running the pick and roll with Terry at the point.  With the Celtics offense, he is going to get great looks.

Yeah, this would take a big load off Rondo and keep him from wearing down in huge games.  Not only could Rondo get more rest, but we could also make Terry the primary ballhandler in a Terry/Rondo backcourt from time to time to make Rondo's minutes a little easier as well.  And if Ray's back Terry can spell him too.

We haven't had a legit 3-guard rotation really since Eddie House was good.  And this one should be better, and would be a great 4-guard rotation if Ray and Bradley are back.

The team is shaping up nicely - we need one or two more pieces to fall into place, but so far we're looking strong for next year.

@Roy.... Scalabrine has championship pedigree & I'm not clamoring to get him back. We need youth & athleticism & size to pair with the old dogs, not just another old dog! I know Jet can ball no doubt but it's a weird fit here being Bradley already isn't a prototypical SG himself. If he is our backup PG im ok with that, but can he guard the Wade's & Kobe's & Harden's? Because we are gonna need that from him.

How can people worry about having too good of a bench. Have they not seen the bench implode due to injuries the last few years?

This.

A 2nd string backcourt of Ray Allen and Jet would be the best in the NBA, hands down. I can see them finishing many games.

This is another reason why Ray just needs to come on back to BOS. Enjoy his visits with MIA and the Clips, but once the wining and dining is done, come on back home.

Great to see that DA is addressing the scoring problem that has plagued this team for years.

Can't say I'm thrilled about this.  I have a hard time seeing enough time for Rondo/Bradley/Terry/Allen.  Allen might very well be gone.

Even if Ray stay, which would be ok I guess, I would hink it would have been a better use of the MLE to give it to a big man.

This seems like an improper allocation of assets (money) for the roster spots we need to fill.

Guess KG is back to being the starting C.

And Ray can play 3 and Green can play 4 on a small lineup so plenty of flexibility off the bench, which I love.

C'mon dude with the Scal comment.  On a serious note don't belittle Terry he's the 3rd biggest contributor to Dallas' championship.

We've seen Avery guard Wade plenty well, the best among the SG's you mentioned.  I'm not worried.  You're picking apart a back up here.

How is Bradley not a prototypical SG. I've argued before that he is the prototype for a complimentary shooting guard.

Ray might be gone anyway; it certainly looked that way at the end of this season.  This looks like Danny hedging his bets - we have a guy to step into (most of) Ray's role if he leaves, and tremendous guard depth if he doesn't.  Either way I don't think this makes a major difference in Ray's decision.

The real guy who should be sweating right now is E'Twaun Moore.  He's running out of role to fill in a hurry.
