I would think the "letting Dallas match" thing has already been worked out. Noway Danny Ainge is gunna be left standing at the Alter again. If they are this far along in negotiations, I doubt DA is going to let Terry walk away.

Getting Terry back is huge, because it looks like Crawford is headed to LAC, OJ Mayo is too expensive. If they loose Terry who else is out there to improve bench scoring?

Stein reporting he's going back to Dallas to see if they will match.  So let's not David West ourselves here and get too excited.

This could just be his way of spinning it so it doesnt look like he got beat to the punch by Marc Spears.  Remember spears has Boston connections.
He's said in the past that he'd prefer to stay with the Mavs, I don't think this is spin.

Yeah me either.  I didn't expect to get him for this reason.

With Rondo taking 35+ minutes at the point, I can't see the value in having in having 3 undersized two guards in Ray, Terry and Avery.

Mike

Hypothetically, think it could work, at least in the regular season.

Rondo (35) / Terry (13)
Bradley (25) / Terry (12) / Allen (11)
Pierce (30) / Allen (9) / "Pietrus" (9)

Rondo (35), Pierce (30), Bradley (25), Terry (25), Allen (20), Backup 3 (9).

You could cut into Pierce's minutes or the backup 3's minutes to get Allen more playing time.
if green is signed than those 18 minutes at sf easily go to him

Admittedly, completely forgot about Green. But that doesn't necessarily mean he'd get all those minutes. Sullinger might require the season off, and even then him and/or Melo don't have to crack the rotation.

If DWill stays in NJ, expect DAL to match.

It seems like its the opposite based on this article.. IF Dallas gets Dwill they will try to win it now. If they loose out on DWill they will save all their cap room for next year and Terry doesn't want a 1 year deal.

I choose to believe spears, he hasnt lead me wrong yet.  Right now I trust Yahoo NBA reports more than ESPN.

Oh, Jeez!  Don't tell me Jet is going to go the old "loyalty to your former team route."  I wish we had an aging all star shooting guard who thought like that.

We did, Danny traded him after All Star last year. Then said  " just j/k lol "

Now if we didnt resign ray would we still have the full MLE to offer to Jet?

I definitely am with you on Yahoo over ESPN I just think Terry is a Mavs guy first from everything I've heard.

Also, Stein is a big time Mavs guy so he has extra clout with that team IMO.

Fingers crossed tho.

There is a good chance that they already gave the Mavericks a chance to match. I am positive his agent has kept the Mavericks in the loop this whole time for it to get this far.

Also this is signicantly different than the West situation where we had to try and S&T for him and find a taker for JO, that was much more complicated.

If Ray does resign... Our bench is Terry/Ray/Green/Sullinger/Stiemsma(Melo). That's the best bench in the league.

Geeeeewhiz. That is a bench that can seriously score. That is a completely new kind of bench for us. I can hardly even imagine. They might not play very good defense, but they could score like a half-decent starting 5.

We're not offering Ray the MLE (reportedly).  We're supposedly offering him $6 million using his Bird rights.  So whether or not we resign Ray we still have the MLE to offer Terry.

However, I think if we land Terry that Ray and Bradley will not both be back.  Probably Ray will be gone unless we get a strong trade offer for Bradley.
