Terry and Ray would make a great bench unit. We need bench scorers who can come in and end droughts. Jeff Green will also help in that area.

I'd probably rather have a guy like Camby, Kaman, or another big in for the MLE but if we can't get a good big for the MLE I think spending it on another bench scorer would be a good use of our cap resources.

This would be spectacular, to say the least.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

If for some reason the Celtics actually do sign both Terry and Ray, I see it happening because of this: KG is gonna be your starting center all year long and they are gonna be able to resign Brandon Bass to be their starting PF.

Terry signs for the full mid-level, Ray signs his 2 year deal. Bradley comes back in December and works his way back into the rotation.

Rondo - Terry - Bradley - Moore.
Ray - Terry - Bradley.
Pierce - Green - Pietrus (vet min) - Joeseph.
Bass - Sullinger - JJJ
KG - Stiemsma - Melo.

Unless the Celtics are thinking that Avery Bradley can be packaged with Brandon Bass for Josh Smith or some other big. So hard to peg, I hope some of this gets a little clearer over the next couple of days.

Fans of other teams are already talking about Garnett/Melo being perhaps the best defensive front-court at some point next year.

Combined with the best defensive back-court, and the draft's best post-scorer in the mix, should be cause for excitement.

Celtics successfully addressed scoring, rebounding, and post defense in the draft. Let's blow it up.

Maybe if Garnett plays a few games with the Maine Lobster Claws. I don't expect Melo to see much time in the league next year.

I thought Bradley would be healthy by training camp?

There's a logjam at PF, and I think Bass is the odd man out--and I think Danny will use him in a trade to acquire another asset.

Others have already addressed the importance of not only Ray's return for its own sake, but also because bringing him back using Bird rights allows the team to spend the MLE on someone else. This would be a great move. Another great move would be to sign-and-trade Bass for a needed asset. So as long as Ray comes back, we have the MLE and a signed-and-traded Bass to acquire one more good big man and one more good scorer. If this pans out as desired, we could be absolutely stacked. Something like:

Rondo/Terry
Bradley/Allen
Pierce/Green/Pietrus
KG/Sully/JJ
Camby?/Melo/Stiemsma

I hope this isn't another case of "here we go again," in terms of when players will return from injuries. I also hope that Doc is just being cautious and that Bradley will be ready to go when the season starts.

Yeah, I'm hoping the key words are might and could. This was supposed to take, what, 4 months? Four months from late May is late September, no?

I don't understand why people are so quick to say if we sign both Bradley will be traded.

Terry may not be a true point guard, but he initiated and ran the offense a lot of the time in Dallas, particularly in clutch time- it was him not Dirk who ran the show and took the big shots.

Again, he isn't a true point guard but neither were Moore or Dooling last season, both of which are obviously not as talented as Terry.

If we have a 4 man rotation of Rondo/Bradley/Terry/Ray that would work fine.  Also Doc has on more than one occasion ran Ray out there at the 3 in a small lineup.  IIRC a Rondo/Robinson/Ray lineup worked surprisingly well.

Run Bradley in a full court press at all times during the game and bring Terry/Ray for instant offense off the bench.  Even those two along with Rondo would be pretty great as the shooting would be fantastic and give Pierce/Bradley a rest.  We would probably have to have KG and Stiemsma with that lineup, but it would definitely be an interesting look.  Heck think Rondo/Terry/Ray/Green/KG.  KG and ROndo woudl have to anchor the defense, but that would be a really fun lineup to watch.  Tons of spacing and shooting, and KG would do nothing but shoot uncontested mid range jumpers and focus on protecting the rim.

Bottom line, this team needs talent, a ball handler, and some explosiveness.  Terry offers that along with clutch shooting.  He's a poor defender but as a sheer scorer, it'd work out great, would rather have him than Ray honestly.

If I had to choose between Ray and Terry, I'd still go RayRay. Better player, and the defense/height will make the difference at the 2 guard pos. Terry's younger and a wee bit more agile, not to mention his pg skills, but Ray fits what we need way better.

Are there really enough backcourt minutes to go around between Rondo, Ray, Bradley, and Terry? I don't see it.

Unless Bradley's rehab/recovery time projects to be much longer than expected?

Brandon Roy/Gerald Green/Moore would be a decent bench too, if Roy is cleared for limited minutes.
