  • Ashy To Classy, baby.

How do Anthony Randolph's pre-draft measurements stack up against some of the 20-22 year old kids takent this year?  6'10... 7'3" wingspan.  9'1" standing reach.  No step vert: 29.0 ... Max vert: 35.0  ... He's crazy athletic.  Didn't he average 27 points, 10 rebounds 3 blocks and 2 steals in the summer league once?  Lol.   Go get him... he's young, has played a bit and still probably has loads of potential.  Get him working with KG and see what happens.

Garnett already has Fab, Sully, JJJ, and Air-Stiemsma to mentor. He's only one guy , he can't mentor a whole team, i guess that's what coaches are for, come to think of it haha.
Yeah but im not sure all those guys actually have real potential.  Randolph seems like a guy who can actual turn into a star in this league... sincerely doubt Stiesma or Fab Melo have that kind of potential.  And if JJJ isn't waiver wire material... isn't he a SF?

I know, but my point is: whenever a young big to sign or trade for is brought up, people immediately say that Garnett can tutor him, but the more young peeps, the less time he has for each one.

It's not that easy haha. KG's only one man, and already has a lot on his plate to begin with.

Hahaha in fact, a funny picture just popped in my head:

Garnett on a practice court with a whistle, intensely teaching post moves, while all our young bigs are sitting on the court, indian stylee just staring like a bunch of kindergarteners.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

I'd role the dice on Beasley as a SF off the bench for this team. Doc and the vets should be a great influence on him.
... basically you can sign any former "highly touted" player and I'll cling to the chance of them finally "figuring it out" in Boston.

Seems to be the default thinking around here ::)

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I'd be coOl withh Randolph. Min contract, see what happens.
Honestly what is up with Randolph?  There were times in Golden State where he looked like one of the most exciting prospects in the league, but apparently maturity and confidence really were lacking.

Then he goes to NY for 17 games and they barely even look at him.

He had exactly ONE game for the Knicks where he got minutes (28) and put up 9 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals... but that's it.  Back to getting DNP..

Then he goes to the Wolves where obviously is backing up Kevin Love... Derrick Williams is a #2 pick so they obviously have to give him minutes when possible... Beasley is there... Darko and Pekovic are there.  I mean... maybe you say he just couldn't get an opportunity, because the Wolves just had too many other assets cooking?  I don't know...

Maybe he just stinks?

But again... in the rare instances when he found himself getting minutes he seemed to be capable.

29 minutes on 1/10 against Chicago and he dropped 18 points, a block and a steal.

Randomly got 31 minutes on 4/11 and he got 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks...  followed it up with a 27 minute 16 point, 9 rebound, 2 blocks, 2 assist performance and a 34 minute 22 point, 11 rebound, 1 block performance.

I mean... it wouldn't take much for me to hop on the "this kid still has potential" bandwagon.  22 years old..  6'11... 225... I say go after him if you can get him cheap.  I'd love for KG to give him some mentorship.

I'm on board the Randolph train. He has amazing hands and athleticism- he's like a rich mans Sean Williams.
Must be a huge knucklehead factor somewhere in there, but once again with KG at helm, there are no clowns in the Boston circus. I figure if we have Melo, Williams and Randolph on board as our 3rd string Center core at least one of them will flourish in some way. The latter two running with Rondo would bring a huge sigh of relief.
Kind of guy that Ainge likes to take a chance on and hit the lotto.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Out: Bass, Hollins, (maybe?) Jajuan
In: Anthony Randolph (and the wing players we so desperately need from the Bass/Jajuan trades)

Like some of you've said, Randolph is NBA ready. Given enough minutes, he could very well bring plenty of positives. I think the money will be well spent signing him.

KG, Anthony Randolph, Sully, Fab Melo, Stiemsma, Sean Williams

Come playoff time, I think:
KG, Anthony Randolph, Stiemsma, Sean Williams and maybe Sully

Positives:
-Get the bad taste of skipping on PJ3 out of my (and some others here's) mouth. (though I do get the Fab Melo pick and am warming up to it. Wish we had more picks this draft).
-6 hard fouls on LeBron? Try flagrant fouls, nailing him in the groin. Maybe even hack a ref? (kidding. Kind of.)
-Plenty of insurance, all of whom have played with the team instead of being
-Doc must play rookies (unless he makes Pierce a full time PF...oh god)
-Plenty of potential
-Anthony Randolph is a steal, likely KG replacement
-Fab Melo, Sully, Sean Williams can develop at his own pace (they have considerable upside)

Negatives:
-Doc might not play any of them and opt to play small ball all season long or even 4 player lineups (I'm half serious...but there is a chance. I'm a bit scared honestly).
-Might be a bit deflating for some of them (unlikely though. Sully, Fab Melo and Sean Williams can't really complain if they aren't getting minutes. They aren't finished products at all.)
-KG cannot develop all of them at the same time (but I don't think that's a huge deal. You don't need hours and hours to learn something valuable from a great like this.)

Verdict: SIGN HIM. I'd overpay a little even.

I'd like Beasley as an alternative to Bass.

Not in addition to Bass though. No need for him in that case.

Regardless of what happens with Bass,
GO GET BEASLEY!   He is an offensive beast!
He'd give us leverage in signing Bass, and add a trade piece. And insurance in case there are any injuries.

Love to see it.

I am happy to sign Beasley instead of Bass. Beasley is a much more talented player than Bass and he'll likely sign a contract in the same pay bracket as Bass gets. I prefer Beasley to Bass.

I don't think I'd take both of them though. I want Sullinger to play. No need for both.

Can we afford Beasley? I'm under the impression that unless we sign and trade, we can't really afford anyone once we sign Jeff Green or a different wing. We can probably get Randolph if he's cheap.

Hmmm I like it.

Will it happen? Most likely not.

But I like it. Please not Dooling though. He almost gave me a heart attack at various points of the season.

Can offer the full MLE. It's not a great offer, a solid one though.

Not sure Beasley is going to get much more than the MLE. Maybe a bit more but it should be competitive enough to put Boston in with a chance.

Need to double check the teams with cap space but nobody really jumps to mind as someone who will offer Beasley a lot of money this summer.

Right. Either I'm exhausted or all these cap scenarios are starting to make my head spin so I'm forgetting about things like the MLE. I think it might be a little of both haha.

Why didn't Randolph play more games? Was he injured a lot, or were they dnp-cds?

Can/Should we sign and trade Jajuan for Anthony Randolph instead and use Bass/Ray for a wing?

I assume it's because he's not a good player.

Man if they we got Beasley,Green, and Mayo, Rondo might ask to be the back up PG.
