Can't see Stiemsma, Hollins, Williams sticking and Garnett has made it clear he doesn't want to play the position.

Sullinger is a great pick up but he's primarily a PF.

Fab Melo is okay i guess but i don't see him coming on for another 3-4 years. I see the Maine Red Claws in his near future.

I've heard the idea of going after Marcus Camby in free agency but the guy is a fossil. Love his game but you gotta wonder if his body can hold up another season.

Who would you guys want to go after and do you think the Celtics even need a legit center?

potential roster:

PG: Rajon Rondo, Keyon Dooling, E'Twaun Moore
SG: O.J. Mayo, Avery Bradley, Mickael Pietrus
SF: Paul Pierce, Jeff Green, Kris Joseph
PF: Kevin Garnett, Jared Sullinger, JaJuan Johnson
C- (FA), Chris Wilcox, Fab Melo

That team is DEEP.

Other free agent C possibilites:

1. Brendan Haywood. Depending on whether the Mavs buy him out or not.
2. Robin Lopez. Phoenix may want to keep him around for the rebuilding process.
3. Greg Oden. Has only played 82 games in 5 years. Yikes.
4. Hasheem Thabeet. Yikes?

I don't see Omer Asik as a distinct possibility since the Bulls will probably match any offer the Celts make.

that team is deep except for Center which is paper thin.  Also, Steimsma will undoubtedly be resigned over Wilcox and Dooling.

Pencil in Camby as the most likely candidate to come in and start at Center with Steimsma and Melo as backups although I doubt Melo sees any court time.  KG will most likely log some time at center if the C's go small with Rondo/Bradley/Mayo(?)/PP at the 1-2-3 and Green as the PF.  That would be a very uptempo unit.

Danny has to turn his attention to a true Center. My targets...

Marcus Camby - best rebounder available, great shotblocker
Greg Oden - proven player with health issues
Brendon Haywood - Perkins type player. Could excell with Rondo
Can't stop, Rondo!

This is such an obvious question, OF COURSE.

Why would anyone think that KG will stick around with this team as currently constructed?  Draft night is fun because it's fun to dream.  Do you think KG feels that way?

Beyond that, the team has NOBODY TO PLAY CENTER, I mean seriously let's come back down off the Draft Night cloud and starting thinking realistically.

I gotta agree.  Melo played zone in college for two years and if JJJ couldn't earn minutes in Doc's rotations after four years at Purdue, not to mention being named Big 10 Defensive player of the year as a senior, I can't see Melo cracking the rotation this year.

I would love to see DA sign Omer Asik.

Chris Kaman

This should be target # 1 with our MLE. We were obviously interested in him at deadline. He has a vast skill-set and equally as important is his ability to play in the post.  He just turned 30, so a multi-year deal for MLE is something that would work for both sides. Our offense runs so much more effectively when we have had someone in the post (think Sheed, KG, and Shaq).

I see free agency period shaping up similar to our summer of 2010, where we added Shaq and JO, to go along with KG, Baby, and Perk, with one thing in mind; end the size advantage of Bynum and Gasol. So now our obstacle is Miami. They were able to matchup effectively against us by going small and putting James on Bass. Bass is not a post up player, so they were able to get away with it. So for all the good things Bass brings to the table, his game is not well suited to matchup against Miami. Sullinger is not only a good post player, but this likely means the end of Bass' Celtic stay.

Would love to try and nab Haywood if we could get him on the cheap if he gets bought out by Dallas.

I think calling Greg Oden a proven player with health issues is a bit generous. I'd take him for peanuts in the hopes that he can get healthy, but no way I target him with any expectations that he can contribute.

I would love to see Camby in Green.

I think the celtics will nab Hayward or Kaman, have him in a rotation with KG, Steamer, and prob resign Wilcox or something for smallball at the 5

Kaman and/or Camby would be awesome. I've been wanting Camby for a long time now.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

None can play with his back to the basket. We need someone like Kaman in order to punish Miami when they go small and put Bosh at the 5.

I'm pretty sure that the C's won't have the MLE this year since they are under the cap.  Even if the reach the cap after signing free agents they still won't get it.
