Could these moves mean we are moving Rondo? These are not the types that will improve his game as I see it.
Contrary to popular belief, I think Rondo doesn't need to run on the break every 2 possessions. Nor would a team that does not do so hinder Rondo significantly (or in my opinion, at all).
Having a severely flawed team: one that lives or dies by the jumpshot and is largely inconsistent as a result, one that cannot rebound and loses momentum as almost once per game the opponent takes multiple attempts every possession, one that has no post presence on defense or on offense barring KG on the defensive end, one without depth at all leading to the only offensive weapons being Bass, Pierce and KG (post-season).
That's what hinders Rondo's production.
Rondo does everything except scoring and runs an offense exceptionally.
Not saying Fab Melo is even close to sniffing Shaq's level but having a big body on the inside who's scouted to have "soft hands" would certainly change the dynamics of the offense and Rondo's game a lot.
Sullinger would appreciate catching the ball in the post taking high percentage shots, unlike KG who's resorted to his jumpshot now. Rondo can get him there.
Not vouching for either players but saying that Rondo does not rely solely and entirely and completely and utterly on the break.
Running mates for Rondo? we've got Kris Joseph, Jajuan Johnson, Avery Bradley and possibly Jeff Green and Wilcox.
But, anyway, I hope the draft pans out. Drafts are indeed crapshoots and players are very malleable being only human. I'm rooting for our 3 rooks and 2 sophomores (who I hope will improve vastly after an actual summer camp).
