so does anyone realise we now will have 4 draft picks next year:

* our first rounder
* our second rounder
* a second rounder from the charlotte bobcats
* a second rounder from the cavs from the semih erden, luke harangody trade.
what about the okc 2nd round pick

it's the bobcats pick which is much better for us!

This trade just keeps getting better. I don't know how people still can't like this trade. The Celtics weren't going to re-sign Perk for the money he is getting. We now are going to get a very good young player Thursday night with pick #22, we now get another second round pick which at worst will be top 35 and Jeff Green. Everyone seems to have written off Green, but I still think he is and is going to be a big part of this team in the future. This trade is a massive win for the Celtics. We got 3 assets for a player who was going to walk.

You are forgetting that the Cs could have worked a S&T with Perk over the summer, which would have netted assets back to the Cs.

draft picks are better than "assets" aka crappy contracts

we got Jeff Green, pick 22 and a top 40 pick next year for a busted Perk, that's all that needs to be said....

Do you honestly think Perk would have helped us beat Miami last year? even with a one armed Rondo?

What exactly did he do against Miami this year that would have helped us last year? he can't match up with Miami at all. Oh yea that's right he had a bad groin and will be even better next year with recovery, just like last year when he has his knee injury, or a few years before when he had shoulder problems. Just wait til next year Perk will be a beast!

sry not trying to rant at you just the people who keep saying we would have won a title with Perk last year.  ::)

I hear you. I agree. I actually think the trade was a good trade given where the Cs were at that point. A lot would have had to go wrong to make the trade not a good trade from the Cs point of view. Unfortunately, most of those things that could have gone wrong did go wrong. In retrospect, I wouldn't have made the trade. But at the time, I thought it was a good trade.

In any case, I dont want to rehash all this. I have nothing new to say and I haven't seen anything new to be said on the topic in ages, so.... let's move on.

Yep, I'm in agreement with you. See my other response above ^^

Cheers, and I'm done talking about "the Perk Trade"

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Really sketchy to me.
Withholding something is what it sounds like from the limited information we have. It just doesn't make sense that other teams haven't been compensated in the past. Makes me think they knew something that should of been disclosed.
How would you feel if you were Jeff?

I think they should just give us James Harden instead.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Mr Hobbs?

Sue the NBA? For what? I think he could have a case against OKC though, considering that witholding the information could have killed him.

clearly something shady happened here, or else we wouldn't be awarded a reasonably high pick. OKC knew green had a heart issue (there is no way team doctors wouldn't tell team management about something like that). no doubt the trade was made in bad faith...why else do we get a top 40 pick? the real question is whether green himself knew. if he didn't...man...okc has A LOT to answer for. green absolutely should sue them if this is the case.

In order to sue you have to claim damages.  I guess Jeff Green could claim the $9M that he lost in salary this year, though I don't know if he had insurance on that either.

I have a hard time believe Green would sue now, when we are 6+ months removed from all of this.
