A lineup of

Rondo
Bradley
Pierce
Smith
KG

Would reek havoc on Defense. I would love to watch those guys get stops and have Rondo bradley and Smith lead the way with KG and Pirece being able to spot up. Whew would be very fun to watch. I have been saying hoping we get Josh for about a year now. Please Danny get it done!

How about

Rondo
Bradley
Jeff Green
Smith
KG

with Pierce off the bench anchoring the 2nd unit?

Terrible lineup.  No real shooting except KG.

Maybe. Bradley shot pretty well from the outside last year, Green faired decently when he was on the Celts and Smith isn't terrible when he's not taking ill-advised shots. Plus if Rondo's somewhat more willing to take jumpers it's less of an issue.

Don't know why some Cs fans are so high on JSmith.  To me, JSmith brings memories of AWalker and that's not a good thing IMHO.  I know they are different players, but there are some similarities I can't ignore....starting with the 3pt shooting.

Anyways,  If Danny thinks that's the best we can do to challenge for a championship, then I am all for it.
He is a very good player when he goes inside and attacks the rim. With Rondo dictating where he gets his touches I think he could become a much more efficient offensive player. He is a force on defense who can guard 3 positions ,block shots, rebounds and we would have a really good defender with size to throw on Lebron for the next 5 years .

We know he loves Rondo and not many all-star type players seem to have Boston on their list of destinations they want to go to. Why not get someone who most likely wants to be here ? Wasn't he praising the Boston fans after the playoff series vs Atlanta this year? Rondo and Smith is a pretty good combo to team up going forward IMO. You just need to add scorers and a good center over the next few years when PP and KG will come off the books.

This has always been my gripe with Josh Smith.  The worst thing that happens to him is that he makes one of 3's then falls in love with them.

This is true, however I think KG and Rondo can get the most out of him. Remember...Walker never played with a PG like Rondo and only became the 3 point shooting machine once Obie took over the coaching duties.

Because some fans would rather pine for players (i.e. Chris Paul, D12) who have made it clear they don't want to come to Boston like jilted one-night stands.

Supposedly the C's have given Royce White a Promise at # 21, but other reports are stating that the Hawks are the team that really wants White .

Now I know this couldn't happen on draft night because the only players under contract are PP,Rondo ,Bradley,Johnson,Moore  , but I was wondering how long do you have to wait to trade players after you draft them(and don't trade them on draft night)?

I am thinking a deal of

S+T Bass, #21 Royce White and # 22 and filler might be able to land Josh Smith. The deal breaker to me would be including Bradley to that package .

Josh Smith is on his last year of his deal and has already made it known for the past few years that he wants to leave Atlanta. He is also best friends with Rondo and played in high school with him as we all know .

So do you think a trade like that could land us Josh Smith ?

PG: Rondo    / Vet min
SG: Bradley  / Ray
SF: PP       / Green
PF: Smith    / Wilcox
 C: KG       / Steamer

Not bad, but I think we need a better backup big man, maybe camby?

I can't imagine that Atlanta has an owner that would be willing to send one of his players to team up with a bunch of old guys that foul and among them the dirtiest player in the NBA in KG.
We all think we know more than we really do....

Wow Josh Smith has never been an All-Star. Was looking at his 3pt numbers, and I thought he got one in like 09 or 10.

he should have been this year. Running with Rondo he is definitely going to be one of the 3 best pf's in the east.

The problem isn't trading the picks it's trading one of our unrestricted FAs.  We can't trade them until after July 1st, so this could not be a draft night deal.

Further, Atlanta would probably want Jeff Green over Bass.

I am on the record as saying I would welcome Josh Smith to this team, because if KG does retire he provides us with at least 70% of what KG did for us, at least on the court.

If Danny could move Jeff Green, our 2 first round picks, and maybe Brooklyn's 2nd rounder next year, it would be one hell of a deal.  Basically trading Perkins and a late 1st rounder and early 2nd rounder for one of the best PFs in the league.

In 2009-2010 he only attempted 7 threes.  Perhaps not coincidentally, that was the season that the Hawks had their best regular season record in Smith's tenure in Atlanta.  The next season he was taking 2 threes per game.

This is one of the reasons why I think any attempt to get him to change his shot selection is going to be short-lived, at best.  Josh Smith to the Celtics is going to result in quite a few Rondo-Smith pick-and-pops, I suspect.

He's not bad when he's shooting 12-15 feet, it's those 3's that are the problem. Maybe I'm just too hopeful, but I think playing with a real point guard who can run an offense and a coach who isn't afraid to get on him, his shot selection will improve. A lot of Atlanta's offense revolves around ISO play, that's a recipe for bad attempts late in shot clock.

Over his career, Josh Smith has taken a three every 27.5 minutes of playing time.  Is this that big of a deal?

Josh Smith is a below average shooter everywhere on the court besides the rim.

At Rim: 68.6%
3-9 feet: 39%
10-15 feet: 31%
16-22 feet: 36%
from three: 25%

If I'm coaching Smith, I don't want him shooting outside of 10 feet.

the long jumpers are bad even I cringe seeing those ugly looking rainbow shots go up and I'm not even going for the Hawks lol

I don't get it...

The Hawks don't have much leverage as far as Josh is concern even if they have the rights to trade him because he will be a FA come season's end. The other team would have to be like New Jersey Nets Dumb when they traded away their 6th pick for a couple monthe rental of gerald Wallace.

If Josh does not agree to an extension with that team, then why would that team trade for Josh if its just a 1 yr rental?

With the C's for example, the Hawks get what they want in terms of Draft pick(say Royce White), they get to keep their own pick and they get Bass in a S & T for example. Danny can even dangle future 1st or what. But to completely say the C's have no chance at Smith is I think not impossible since we really can just wait for him at season's end to sign him anyways.
