Supposedly the C's have given Royce White a Promise at # 21, but other reports are stating that the Hawks are the team that really wants White .

Now I know this couldn't happen on draft night because the only players under contract are PP,Rondo ,Bradley,Johnson,Moore  , but I was wondering how long do you have to wait to trade players after you draft them(and don't trade them on draft night)?

I am thinking a deal of

S+T Bass, #21 Royce White and # 22 and filler might be able to land Josh Smith. The deal breaker to me would be including Bradley to that package .

Josh Smith is on his last year of his deal and has already made it known for the past few years that he wants to leave Atlanta. He is also best friends with Rondo and played in high school with him as we all know .

So do you think a trade like that could land us Josh Smith ?

PG: Rondo    / Vet min
SG: Bradley  / Ray
SF: PP       / Green
PF: Smith    / Wilcox
 C: KG       / Steamer

Not bad, but I think we need a better backup big man, maybe camby?

The problem isn't trading the picks it's trading one of our unrestricted FAs.  We can't trade them until after July 1st, so this could not be a draft night deal.

Further, Atlanta would probably want Jeff Green over Bass.

I am on the record as saying I would welcome Josh Smith to this team, because if KG does retire he provides us with at least 70% of what KG did for us, at least on the court.

If Danny could move Jeff Green, our 2 first round picks, and maybe Brooklyn's 2nd rounder next year, it would be one hell of a deal.  Basically trading Perkins and a late 1st rounder and early 2nd rounder for one of the best PFs in the league.

Id trade green and whoever we pick at 21 and 22 and a future first for smith and whoever they pick at 23...

If they dont want to give us the 23rd then im still fine with green 21 and 22 for smith and a future pick.

Can't see Atlanta handing Smith to the Celtics for 2 late 1st round draft picks and a guy who just had a major heart surgery  and hasn't played in over a year.
We all think we know more than we really do....

I could see bass, green, and 1 or both first rounders for Smith...

Gives them a 3, a backup 4, move Horford back to 4, and 21, 22, and 23 in the draft. Would also help that Smoove would be begging new gm Ferry to make the trade

Doesn't matter anyway since we can't sign and trade Jeff according to the CBA

my sentiment exactly!! here is a guy who can play 4 or 5 with KG... we are in need of a big who can postup, shoot from the perimeter, run, rebound, defend.. He wont throw up ill-advised 3s ala J.smith ;D... trade for him now... then get j.smith next year via free agency...

what about Josh Smith's reported attitude problems - also will he keep playing hard with a new 4-year contract secured ?

If they're open to moving Horford, we don't have the pieces to get him.

He seems to be the type of guy who needs someone to light fire crackers under his behind, that being said there's a big difference between playing for Doc Rivers and playing for Woodson/Drew...he knows that he wouldn't be bigger than the coach or the system because both have won in Boston. He would be another piece, if you can get Smith for both picks and a few small pieces then make the deal and have KG teach him how to be a player. Right now hes an athlete who plays basketball, you need to get him to be a basketball player with athletic ability. There is a difference...and I think KG and Doc can accomplish that.

YEah with the right surrounding he could get focused. He also hasn't played with a point guard like Rondo since, well when he was in high school with Rondo. That changes his shot selection.

Also wouldn't you have a bad attitude if you were always the scape goat every time things went wrong and not the 98 Million dollars mans??

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think Josh Smith's attitude problems peaked years ago, like Kenyon Martin. Not that he's a model teammate, just that he isn't a cancer, isn't a coach killer, and is much more mature than he was when he was making headlines for flipping the bird to a crowd.

i love trade ideas!! I would love to have horford in green so forgive me if i make some trade scenarios to land him in our team....

we deal Rondo to the kings.
we send our 2 picks to the hawks...

the kings send tyreke evans to the hawks.
the kings give us the #5 pick.

the hawks give us horford..

to summarize, we get horford and #5.
the kings get rondo.
the hawks get tyreke and picks 21 and 22.

I think it is a good deal for us...
the kings is willing to part with tyreke, and getting an excellent point guard in rondo is a great pickup even if it means losing the #5 pick.
the hawks will get a much-needed quality pg and 2 picks... with now 3 picks in the first, they can package the 23 with marvin williams to get a very good player in return like luol deng perhaps.

violent reactions?

The Hawks would get violated in this trade.

What would it take to get J Smoove without giving up Rondo/Bradley or any of our core?
