I don't think Atlanta wants to add salary like Thomas's trying to rebuild, but who knows if they love a certain prospect...

Yeah, that would be the crux of it. Would taking on Thomas be worth the high pick (MKG or Thomas Robinson) for Atlanta?

If the Hawks want picks and financial relief, you'd think Portland would be a prime suitor for Josh Smith - offer up #6 and a trade exception.  Aldridge and Smith would be a fine combination.

They'd probably be very reluctant with only one guaranteed year of Josh Smith though.

2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Heard Portland as a potential dark horse for a short-term rental of Dwight Howard, so perhaps they wouldn't be skittish about Smith either.

I'd be shocked if they'd take that risk for Smith. Though I wouldn't be shocked if Smith was open to staying in Portland long term.

This is pretty random, but I've been doing some research around blogs of other NBA teams to see which players are being sold low relative to expectations and Indiana is VERY down on Tyler Hansbrough. He really did have a horrible season and might need a change of scenery. I wonder if something like JJJ + 22 for Hansbrough and 26 might work. Having this dude and KG on the floor is pretty crazy (literally and figuratively)

I'd rather not sell a PF prospect for a guy who has put together one solid backup PF season and one bad one.

I'd rather gamble on the potential of JJJ, the first round pick swap also seems unecessary downgrade of our position.

Funny. Didn't Ainge ask for Hansbrough and a 1st rounder in exchange for Ray, and Larry laughed that offer down?

I would be very surprised if Indiana's front office feels that way considering Larry wouldn't trade him and first rounder for Ray last year.  Psycho T was pretty good against the Heat in the playoffs, despite having a horrible season.

Hansborough is awful.  I want no part of him.

He wasn't good against Miami.

I think Rondo puts a bug in Smith's ear to tell Atlanta to only trade him to Boston and he will not sign an extension any wheres else.

I think Bass,White and two future picks has more value than nothing considering that he will be gone by seasons end, and probably wont play very hard.

But of course there are teams that will trade just to put butts in the seats for one year...Those teams I have concerns about.

Yep.  There is a big difference between Dwight Howard and Josh Smith.

That said, if it really is just 6, I still might do it, especially with the change in sign and trade rules that come into effect next summer (making it harder for Smith to get big money from the best of the best).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Say what you want about Josh Smith, but if KG comes back and we could add him without giving up Rondo/AB/Pierce, we are instantaneously back in the hunt for Banner 18.

Josh Smith is the type of player that can give us a core to develop around for the next three years as well.  The question is what will it take to get him.

The only guy currently under contract that makes this work and makes sense is Pierce, and while a neutral observer would trade Pierce for JSmith in a heartbeat, Celtics' brass and fans will never do this deal.

This is where Danny is probably kicking himself for rescinding the qualifying offer to Jeff Green.  If that was the case, he would be restricted, and we could easily fit him in a S+T.  But because he is unrestricted, he can go wherever he wants.

I think Danny could flip our #21, a future first, and Jeff Green for Josh Smith.

If he does this, though I don't know how it will pan out, he will deserve GM of the year.

Wasn't KG offered for Smith at the trade deadline last year? I imagine if KG was offered, Danny would have no problem offering PP..
