I was running threw some of the mock drafts to see if anything had changed since the columbine. Rivers had jumped in a few of them to the 10 spot. He also has rumored to have a lottery promise from some one.

Now in one of the reports said that N.O. liked what they saw out of him and could use some one of his caliber in rebuilding the franchise. Which is all reasonable and leaves any rumors of a trade at the door, but...

We know N.O. wants  out of Okafors contract. They also have a guard very similar in Gordon that they might want to give a contract to, which is why they want out of the Okafor contract.

Now Im not sure what we have to give up to take on the Okafor contract, if some picks will have to be given up, and a player or two. I think he'd be a good fit for a year, and if he dosen't work out, he's gone the next.

The other thing I like could be a third part, lets say, I don't know Atlanta that wants a center, and wants to get rid of Smith, or really Smith wants to get rid of Atlanta, would be a dream...Which is really all this will be a dream...But its better that then thinking about the Heat winning rings...

The taking on the Okafor contract and giving up the 2 firsts for the #10 sounds like the type of deal Danny would make.

For New Orleans, it accomplishes a few goals, for the Celtics, it fills a need, gets them a real high-caliber prospect, and would earn a pretty earnest high-five from me.

They're baiting.. but I don't think Ainge is willing to take Rivers at 10 and I don't want any part of Okafor.

That contract is a franchise crippling one.

I would easily do this deal. Okafor, for all his contract issues, is a legit big man. He fills a major need on our team. Getting a prospect who can create his own shot like Rivers for taking on Okafor and giving up two late 1sts is a steal.

Why? He's got 2 years left on it. Pierce has 2 years left. KG and Ray Allen most likely will have 2 more years if they resign (I hope they resign).

If the Celtics are maxed out this summer and next, so be it. When the dust clears, they'd be building around a 28 year old Rondo, a #10 lottery pick with 2 years of experience, and likely more cap space than anyone in the league.

2 years with a player option his final year of 15M, not willing to give him that money.

I much rather Pierce retire before the start of the 2013-14 season (get amnestied and avoid a cap hit), KG retires and Ray (if he's back).

Then sign unrestricted FA Josh Smith, and have a core of Rondo,Bradley,Green,Smith and additional money to spend and picks.

Now if Okafor is switched to a team under the cap then I'd welcome this even more.

To take on Okafor's contract, given his injury situation this past year, I would only give them #22. NO still has the #1 pick and gets huge cap flexibility.

Whether NO does it or not, I hold out.

Hes a free agent in 2013. He makes a little under 13 mil. If you want a center these days your going to pay around 10 to 15. Would you rather have him or McGee at that price?

Him and Paul come off the books next year I believe. That opens about 30 mil right there next season. Then you can offer a max to some one.

I'm not seeing that anywhere.

He's got one year, then the next year is an ETO year, which he of course won't do, but that's 2 years, same year as Pierce, and likely same year as Garnett and Allen if they resign.

How did you read what I wrote as if he had 3 years ? 2 years with the final year a player option.

And on top of this we won't sign Josh Smith, the same year Howard is also unrestricted and James Harden is restricted FA.

NOT throwing away money on that awful player or his contract, Ainge would be really dumb if he got him.

Unless he flips him to a 3rd team he would be a genius.

I thought you meant 2 years with an additional player option.

Pretty sure we cannot even absorb okafor's contract as we will be over the cap technically, so it doesn't really matter if we like him or not lol

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I fail to see why we'd have to give up our two first rounders If we're taking on Okafor's contract.

I don't know maybe I'm just being stingy.

Can't amnesty a player you trade for or sign after the new CBA has been signed (last fall).
