What's the financial situation like for Boston if they take on Okafor?

How much cap space do they have to sign other free agents and/or re-sign their own?

They're baiting.. but I don't think Ainge is willing to take Rivers at 10 and I don't want any part of Okafor.

That contract is a franchise crippling one.

At the same time, why not wait until NO amnesty's Okafor? His contract is worse than Ariza's thus making him a prime candidate for the clause.

I also wonder if Sterns would allow this trade. Im not sure if they will still own the team, if the deal is completely threw, but it seemed like he had a say in all the trades last year.

Now on a good note, it would make a good story. Father/son feel good story. NBA gets press.

Or it blows up in the Celtics face, father/son thing doesn't work and Sterns in his office with his hands together like Mr.Berns from the Simpsons saying "Excellent"...

The taking on the Okafor contract and giving up the 2 firsts for the #10 sounds like the type of deal Danny would make.

For New Orleans, it accomplishes a few goals, for the Celtics, it fills a need, gets them a real high-caliber prospect, and would earn a pretty earnest high-five from me.

To take on Okafor's contract, given his injury situation this past year, I would only give them #22. NO still has the #1 pick and gets huge cap flexibility.

Whether NO does it or not, I hold out.

Shoot, I wouldn't even give them that. Okafor + #10 for Sacramento's 2nd rounder in '15.
