  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Gonna answer this a little differently...looking at it from a skills perspective.

The draft picks I want collectively should have or have the ability to QUICKLY develop:

1. Pull up midrange jumper - toughest shot to defend
2. Ability to run the floor - give Rondo options on the break
3. Rebound - let's improve that aspect of this team
4. High BBIQ - process the info and make the quick decision: make your move or move the ball!
5. Good team defender - Keep the recent tradition of defensive excellence alive and well.

If Danny and his staff can find the young men who can best fill this wish list, the next era is off to a sweet start.

If anyone knows the names of the prospects that best fill this wish list...please share.

Terrence Ross fills every criteria.

He's an elite Athlete, great shooter, rebounds very well for his position and an active defender.

He's an ideal fit with Rondo.

I think Doron Lamb is very interesting, I have not heard one bad thing about him besides "he's not an elite athlete" which isn't that big a deal to me.

Some mocks have him sliding into the early 2nd. Depending on who slides into the early 2nd maybe we swap our 22nd with cleveland for their back to back 2nd rounders??

I am definitely high on Doron Lamb. That kid just oozes "winner". Followed the same path as Rajon Rondo into the NBA thru Oak Hill and UK. Would slide right into Ray Allen's spot off the bench as a shooter and ballhandler with no problems at all. From a value standpoint, 22 might be a little high to pick him but you would never worry about him being ready to play. He could be an ideal 6th man for the next 10 yrs with his skillset.

That said. My other options are:

-Jeff Taylor
-Terrence Ross
-Moe Harkless
-Meyers Leonard
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

Harkless also. I guess his pull-up J was looking good at the Combine today.

1. Jeff Taylor
2. Royce White
3. Arnett Moultrie
4. John Jenkins
5. Moe Harkless
6. Dion Waiters
7. Doron Lamb
8. Andrew Nicholson
9. Terrence Ross
10. Quincy Miller

I think White, Waiters and Ross are all a little bit on the optimistic side. Waiters and Ross would actually both be higher if not for how unlikely I think it is that they'll be available. I kind of wanted my top 5 to all be guys I think are attainable, even if White is someone we'd be lucky to see fall. I'd put Waiters at 3 and Ross at 5 if available.

I'm very high on Taylor and Jenkins as a potential starter/6th man respectively.

If we took Taylor, I'd feel more comfortable with Moultrie than White if we went with a big man, because we'd need some length to offset Taylor's poor wingspan. Still, Taylor's athleticism, defensive ability and 3 point stroke make him my top choice for the Celtics.

White is a guy who if he works out well would be a great person to get in the 20s, because I think he could be a top 3 guy on a contender.

Moultrie is a guy I like for this specific Celtics team, as he's athletic and can rebound well.

Jenkins is someone I think will fit in the pro game very well with his jumper. He seems like a perfect complement to Rondo and Bradley with his shot.

Harkless is super talented, and would be a great wing to develop for us.

Waiters and Lamb are both guys who would fit in well as scorers off the bench.

Nicholson is simply a good value at this spot, but I'm not as high on him as others.

Ross I think will be gone before we pick due to his potential, but I like him as well.

Miller also has great upside, but he's another guy I'm not that high on.

My wishlist is Anthony Davis, Thomas Robinson, Harrison Barnes, Bradley Beal, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. I don't really know how to write a wishlist because I have no idea who will be on the board. Those guys won't be, but neither will Arnett Moultrie, Terence Ross, or Deion Waiters, guys, sorry.

Who, among the top 30, would I AVOID at our slot?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rivers
Marshall
Harkless
Wroten
Teague
Melo
MIller

Those guys were not elite producers in college. I wouldn't be excited to see any of them playing for us. If we end up with anyone else from Ford's top 20 besides these guys, I'll be ecstatic. I think the odds are great.

Who, further down the top 30, is worth reaching for?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Andrew Nicholson
Royce White
Draymond Green

What do I think is our realistic best-case draft?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Andrew Nicholson and Meyers Leonard.

... to make 5 plausible super exciting picks, I guess throw Draymond Green, Royce White, and John Henson on my list.

I agree ross and waiters will be gone but I think moultrie has a better chance sliding than leanard
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

I can't remember the last time a guy that big with proven rebounding skill fell into the 20s.

Last year, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Faried.

They often also fall to the 30s.

Sounds like I need to give Meyers Leonard and Fab Melo a bump in my mock draft. NBA guys really excited about them after the Combine today.

Six foot eight,
Six foot seven,
Six foot eight,
Six foot eight...

We aren't talking about undersized forwards who can rebound. They drop all the time. We are talking about comps for Arnett Moultrie.

I don't want Moultrie. I'd rather trade back with some team that might want to take him.

Lazy, soft, dumb, and not a winner.

Like PJ3, Moultrie doesn't like contact, and his defense is really soft. Almost no blocks at that size.

That's why he might drop so far.

One of the most impressive guys today from what I was told. RT @NYReign1247: What are they saying about Harkless?

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
1. Andrew Nicholson - absolutely love this dude
2. Moe Harkless - young guy with great potential
3. Quincy Miller - high risk/high reward
4. Doron Lamb - this guy is so underrated right now
5. Draymond Green - embodies what a true Celtic is
