OHH PLEAAASSEEE Durant was known as a tweener as well. Don't make it seem like he has "a little more bulk" just because he is dominating now.

Huh?  My original point was that I hoped the OP didn't dismiss Durant because he was perceived as a tweener.  Just because some pundits say a tall 3 can play the 4 doesn't mean he can't play the 3 legitimately.

Miller and Durant as out of college prospects just aren't comparable. Durant would be a consensus number one in 9 out of 10 drafts. Miller is projected to go somewhere between late lottery and early second round. Miller's ability to defend the 3 could be the difference between him become a starter or bench player a true SF and a stretch 4. He's an intriguing prospect, but I only want him if he's a true SF.

Also, from what I understand Miller wasn't the greatest athlete before the injury.

So you're okay with a 3-4 tweener if he's really, really good? Fair enough.  My understanding is that lateral speed was never his strong suit, but I don't think Celtics fans have to look too far to come up with a couple of pretty good 3's for whom it wasn't their strong suit either.

I'm obviously just looking at him from way, way afar, but I think his injury may make him a relative bargain in the same way that Danny saw value in Bradley who was also a 1-year college player with the taint of injury.  And I think he can defend the 3 just fine.  His height alone will give him an advantage there.

Update:  Here's an article on league opinion on him--

Quincy Miller never had the reputation as a particularly energetic defender, and with his knee possibly not going to make it back to 100% strength, he's going to really struggle guarding NBA 3s. He doesn't have the lateral quickness to stay in front of them. Being 6'10" obviously isn't ideal for lateral quickness against 6'7"-6'8" wings anyway.

He's also not particularly quick in general. He might get some minutes at 3 over the next few years as a scorer off the bench, but his lack of lateral quickness might limit his minutes.

I think stretch four is his natural position at this point, and I don't think he'll be very effective defensively for another couple years. The good news is he's already up to 220 pounds, and can get up to 235 in the next couple years.

He'll also have to reinvent himself as a power forward, and he doesn't have a particularly physical mentality.

Risky pick, as much as I like his offensive game.

His agility times from the combine will be released in the next couple days, and we'll have some better informed idea of his potential defense at the 3.

My 5

(realistic picks)
Zeller - PJ Brown, Jeff Foster like player we could use. Possesses high basketball iq, comes from a great program, legit 7 ft Centre that can run all day and night. Underrated skills. He is a safe pick and has lots of teams interested. Will take a trade to move up to get him

Barton - Whoever picks him is going to get a steal imo. He has top 5 skills as a sg/sf. Thin right now is his main weakness.

(unrealistic pick)
Harrison Barnes - Manchild. Glen rice comparison quite true. Will take luck of him dropping , plus someone willing in the top 8 , to take our 2 picks to get him.

I also like Harkless and Rivers.

Give me Zeller and Barton at least and i'm a happy camper

This is my top five with thought that they will most likely be there if the Celtics stay put at 21 and 22:

Moe Harkless: May rise but I think he may still be there

Royce White: He is the kind of player that could really help us, if you are going to be a tweener, he is the kind to be.

Tony Wroten Jr. Love this kid, constantly attacks, great defender, we can fix his jumper.

Orlando Johnson: Can just flat fill it up. We need scoring desperately

Quincy Miller: I think once he properly heals he could be special.

One extra player: Will Barton: If we could snag a later pick, maybe one of Golden States' I would like to grab this kid. Skinny, but can really play.

I have a sinking feeling that AInge will trade for Tyreke and the Sac number 5 on draft Day. I wont mention who...because its obvious. Thats why they been interviewing so much. I think San Antonio will also do something like this.

If they do...then we could see Drummond or Barnes as a Celtic.

It makes sense for Sac to trade out of that 5 spot.

Would I be entirely crazy that I would actually consider that? Tyreke Evans the #5 pick plus our other two first rounders?

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the agility times.

It's hard not to like what you see with that combination of size and skill. It looks like he changed his release for the better and he's also looking a bit more springy.

I don't put too much stock in the athletic portion of the Combine, considering the stopwatches are probably handheld, and the drills are so short time-wise.

But QMiller did decent enough in the agility drill, and jumped 36". Not bad for a guy coming off an acl injury like that.

I would be estatic if rivers fell all the way to 21..don't see it happening though at all. Ive heard a lot of people bang on him on this board but I absolutely think he'll be a terrific player
