I'd consider moving Penny Hardaway to the two guard spot and sliding in a quick dribble drive PG into that starting lineup alongside Grant Hill. Bring both Glen Rice and Tayshaun Prince off the bench.

Plus, a PF to replace Smits in the starting unit.

Question to everyone's point guards.

Who guards Penny?

I think Chauncey would LOVE that challenge :).

A little too slow, and too short as well. He's gonna have a hard time.

lol...that's what they said about Kobe and the Lakers when Chauncey and Co beat them in 03-04. ;D

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I absolutely cannot believe he's fallen THIS far, but I'm going to pick IMO the steal of the draft.

This man was a DREAM TEAMER, along with Karl Malone, Bird and Co....Hall of Famer, several 2nd team Defense Awards...Several 1st Team All-NBA Awards..Consecutive NBA Finals trips with Karl Malone....One of the best PG's to ever play the game...hard-nosed, tough, intelligent...

Yup...that guy sitting down...with the ball :)

Uhh, isn't Stockton before the lottery?

I agree that I need to take out Smits. But I like Penny as my point guard. He's a mismatch offensively on most teams. I believe he's long and quick enough to get to the baskets. He runs on fastbreaks. His length is a big advantage for that.

Grant Hill stays as the 6th man, for now.

I would start Hill as well.

I think putting a player as talented as Grant Hill on the bench is a mistake.

He is a top five player at his position. He needs to be starting.

Question to everyone's point guards.

Who guards Penny?

Let's see:
'94-'95 Penny vs '94-'95 Payton

12/17/94
Payton's line:  31 points, 7 assists, 7 steals, 4 rebounds, 11-15 from the field, won the game
Penny's line:  4 points, 1 assists, 1 steal, 1 rebound, 1-4 from the field, lost the game

2/2/95
Payton's line:  26 points, 7 assists, 4 steals, 3 rebounds, 11-18 from the field, won the game
Penny's line:  17 points, 8 assists, 1 steal, 8 rebounds, 7-17 from the field, lost the game

And that's not even Payton's best year.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Oh, yeah ... I would've taken him three or four rounds ago. ;)

Olajuwon, Jordan, Sam Perkins, Barkley, Willis, Stockton, Kersey, Turner, Bowie, Wood, Thorpe, Robertson, Humphries ... that 1984 draft was full of talent, but we just miss it with this one.

You act like Penny is a 12 assist kind of guy.  He wasn't.  Career high is 7.2.  Brian Shaw actually had the highest AST% of the regulars on the 94/95 teams, and was right behind Penny the following season.  I mean Brian Shaw.

Penny is not Nash.  Heck my guy Derrick Rose has a much high AST% than Penny does.  I love your enthusiasm, but you are making Penny out to be a great deal more than he actually was.
