The Mavericks:

I think we've all kinda forgotten how good Derrick Rose is, he's almost gotten too much backlash from his ill-gotten MVP.

D-Rose is not going to be checked by any other point guard in this game. Not Gary Payton, not Jason Kidd, not anyone. He's too fast, too strong, too good. A P&R situation between him and the Mailman isn't maybe ideal, but its still pretty darn potent. Still deadly.

And Karl Malone is one of the best 4's to ever play basketball.

So you do like Miami did with James and play a bigger athletic defender on Rose. For example you definitely play Pippen on him,

Teams might not be able to do that.

Dallas already has a terrific wing score in Pierce who can destroy smaller guards. If they add another one, that will force teams to keep their PGs on Rose and negate that option.
Exactly if the Bulls had a guy like Paul Pierce last year, no way you can slip Lebron off of Pierce to guard Rose.

So who wants to say good things about my team? Who wants to say bad things I'll refute?

Who wants to talk about the Nash-Pippen-Brand crazytrain?!

Don't like Brand as a fit here. Would have really liked to see a big man who excels at running the floor like McDyess.

Well, in this vid, he runs the floor a bit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jV5MsGvVrHM&feature=related

He even got one on my KG there as well.

I'm guessing that if the Clips right now had Elton Prime instead of ______________, they would've put up a tougher fight vs the Spurs.

My ONLY knock on him was his size...like Barkley, I always believed that those two had trouble vs longer PFs, and they did - to a certain extent

Barkley always spoke of how McHale gave him fits.

But the distinct difference I've noticed with Brand over the years is that I have NOT EVER seen him get his shot rejected...NEVER. And the man almost always mixed it up down low.

Nothing ever fancy with him....just crafty and effective. He's the Paul Pierce of PFs, in my opnion.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Webber isn;t even in the discussion and might not make the Hall.

You think the chances of him missing out are big enough to even address? He's eligible for the first time next season, right?

1. KG was a more talented all around big than Webber.
Absolutely

I third that.

When you factor in defense I don't think it's even that close. KG is a first ballot Hall of Famer and in the discussion for best PF ever with Malone, Duncan, and Barkley. Webber isn;t even in the discussion and might not make the Hall.
Webber was also hurt all of the time.  He only played in 70 games 6 times and never more than 76 (even in the 50 game season he was on pace for less than 70).  Had he been able to stay healthy, his career very likely would have ended up with those guys.  He just couldn't stay healthy.

He is never even discussed really. KG is a SURE thing. I like C Webb. I do, but to compare him to a MVP and Defensive MVP? I don't like it. I think Webber eventually gets in but he waits a little while.

And Rebus - TP to you, Sir.

Antonio McDyess was the one prize I was planning on tucking away until Monday or Tuesday of next week.

He was load for a few seasons.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_DqnUg-i0k

Loved that guy's play.

I'll never forget that 39 pt game he had in the NCAA's while at Alabama. His draft stock SHOT UP like a volcano after that one.

I didn't really see anything in that video to make me change my mind. Not the kind of player I would mostly want to see with Nash. Brand is a very good player, but I think Nash does much better when surrounded by dynamic athletes he can run with and throw lobs above the rim too.

Lots of offense. I really like the interplay between them as a trio.

I agree with Who.

I know of ONE SF/SG that you could possibly add to that bunch, and that group would make Don Nelson blush.
