If your all over Rondo for the bump you must never have played sports.

Rondo would never just go hit a ref. I agree, you should not bump a ref. But be logical, these guys are competitors before there pros. In a game where ROndo was the only guy playing consistent, probably arguments on the bench etc. Not to mention that particular official had been calling against the celtics all game.

Its rediculous to bash on a competitor in the heat of battle after an emotional comeback, to think you have a chance to make it a 2 point game, and the ref takes that chance away.

All of you must never played sports at the next level......besdies the fact that the refs were horrible the whole game, and the fact Rondo was the only Celtics playing good ball from start to finish, there was a critcal call made with 40 seconds left. He's a competitor, not a cry baby or immature.

99% of the competitors in all NBA games seem to be able to prevent themselves from aggressively making contact with the refs when angry, though.  It has nothing to do with playing sports, as almost everybody is able to play within the rules.  Rather, it's called keeping your composure, something that Rondo struggles with from time to time.

Sports is all about funneling your aggression and desire into something constructive.  Rondo lost sight of that, and did something stupid.  It doesn't mean he should be crucified, but he absolutely should be criticized.

It's Not Rondo's competitiveness tht fueled the sudden emotion outburst.
It's the two blown calls. People get frustrated sometimes when there are blatant calls sides the other team.

I'm not giving him a pass, but I do understand why he did it.

I completely agree that he needs to keep his composure.

This makes no sense. Ive played competitive sports all my life and ive never once bumped a ref out of frustration. Getting mad at a call and showing your emotions is one thing, and thats acceptable... But the ref made the call, how is Rondo going to change it by following the ref after already recieving a technical. Show your emotion, get your tech, and be done with it.

One tech I understand, the second and moving towards him to get in his face (and then bumping him when he turned his back) is another thing entirely.

I'd say it's a bit of both in terms of the blame.

The refs should not have made the [dang] game all about his [dang] self in the first place. They should be impartial. I'm really tired of how the [dang] refs are actually a factor and such a big one at the. I've just about had it sometimes.

On the other hand, Roy is right. Rondo should have channeled his emotions into the game. He's a professional. But this would not have been the case if the refs would just do their gosh [dang] job. This isn't even the worst though. The Knicks game was apparently horrendous.

Rondo has to understand the moment he is in.  He didn't.  He cost his team a chance to win.

It is things like this that makes a team want to trade a player and destroys a player's trade value.

There's plenty of other fiery competitors in this world, they don't bump officials.  To my knowledge, KG has never bumped an official.  Bottom line is this, Rondo is a very good basketball player, but he's a punk.  He may not be so in the sense of someone like Ron Artest, but Rondo's had enough issues now where the guy is just a jerk on the court.

That foul call was atrocious.. It's a live ball that everyone was aggressively going at. There was contact of course, but it was inadvertant and it should have been a jumpball.

That ref, whatever his name is, the bald guy; made way too many calls against the Celtics.. I think there was a no call a couple plays before where Rondo clearly got fouled that Rondo got after him for too.. When that same guy made the foul call on a clear jump ball, Rondo of course had had enough..

I'm not mad at Rondo for bumping into him.. He knew he was going to get tossed, but whatever, that call cost us a chance at a comeback.. which i really felt was going to happen after that miraculous baseline jumper by Pierce on 2 defenders.. I doubt Rondo gets suspended for it.. Its not like he socked the Ref in the mouth.. which is what I would've done.. but then again, I'm not a professional..

Go Green.

Rondo should have choked Davis within an inch of his life and if you don't understand why he should have done that than you must never have played sports at the level I have.

Oh come on, Bass bumped from behind, wrapped him up and fell on top of him.  It doesn't matter if it's a loose ball or not, it's a foul.

I get Rondo's outburst. The call was questionable, and Davis had called a few obvious ones against us already. He shouldn't have been T'd up, period...that was Davis reacting way too quickly. That being said, the only question is whether the bump was intentional or not. Even if you're livid (and rightfully so), you do not bump a ref. I've pointed out elsewhere that there is at least some reasonable doubt that it was intentional (he tripped [and it is not that uncommon for people to lead with their chest after losing their footing immediately afterwards], and Davis turned back towards him). That's really the issue here. Otherwise, there is no defense for bumping an official, no matter how poorly they have called a game. I think Rondo's bump was unintentional. If it wasn't, yeah, no excuse. Let's see what the league thinks. Also, if Rondo is suspended, I'd also like to see Davis get reprimanded for a few obvious missed calls. He probably won't, though, because Dictator Stern never punishes refs.
