More excuses for the kid.

That behavior is unacceptable from a professional. Period.

Yeah, because we all know athletes are not human. Rajon Rondo wanted to win a basketball game. He wanted the refs to make the right calls. Shame on him.

Bass did hit him, but only after Josh Smith traveled by barrell rolling with the ball a few times.

That's why they usually call jump ball in these situations, players travel on the ground and also mug each other during the scrum.

It was definitely a close call.  I still think Bass fouled him, not just once, but possibly twice.
He definitely did, after Josh Smith travelled twice and fouled KG.

That's why officials call jump ball in those situations, you could whistle three or four players for a foul or travel everytime those happen. So why is Bass's offense worse than Smith's travel, or earlier banging of KG?

Smith did not foul KG.  You might have a case on the travel by Smith, but my take is that the reason no travel or jump ball was called earlier was that nobody had really established possession yet.

It was certainly a tough call with a lot going on.  I wish I could, but I can't really fault Davis for the call that he made.  I just can't.

But you can fault him for giving the Hawks the ball (yes, giving, because it was clearly C's ball on the inbound) a few instances earlier and you should. We all should.

Unfortunately, I didn't tape the game on HD, but I just watched that out of bounds play where Rondo and Smith went after the loose ball a number of times in slo-mo, and I honestly couldn't tell who it went off.  That one was so close that it probably should have been a jump ball call.

I hate to be this guy who won't just go with the "we got jobbed" company line, but I'm just trying to look at what I saw on my television set as objectively as possible on this.

I will say that I don't blame Rondo for being extremely POed, though.  When so many close plays don't go your way when you're making a heroic effort to claw your way back in, it really sucks.

a kid on my lacrosse team in high school backhanded a ref after a game.  That was pretty legendary.

That was not a backhand.  Nope :(
It was a Pimp Slap.
And I bet your teammate was suspended.
And David Stern is going to Pimp Slap Rondo.

Atlanta 2-0

Boston wondering why they let home court advantage slip away.

Considering you're say its a loss without Rondo for certain why are you so certain playing a tired PP/KG (plus aching Rondo) would have gotten the win in Atlanta during the regular season?

I don't think we got jobbed. There's just too many bad refs in the league, that's all.

Well since my post apparently wasn't Disney enough. Let me reword what I said.

I wish Rondo would have cold clocked Davis instead. The guy is a horrible ref and should be suspended for basically denying any chance of the Celtics coming back with those horrible back to back calls.

Way to stick up for all of us Rondo.

Davis is protected however just like Joey Crawford despite their incompetance at calling games.   Certain refs make the NBA a joke.

The Celtics bench almost won that game in Atlanta.
Clearly, PP, KG and Rondo would have made some contribution.  Probably enough for a win.
Do you think the Celtics would have beaten LA 2 years ago if they had home court advantage?
There is a reason why its called home court advantage.....
Its not an oxymoron.

And do I think the Celtics can win without Rondo.  I Don't know.
However, I Bet Vegas has a line on this and the odds went up as soon as the suspension was anounced the Celtics would be playing without Rondo.

Giving up home court didn't work 2 years ago.(Lakers, won in 7)
And yes, I think that had the Celtics played game one in Boston this weekend they would have won. The Hawks wouldn't have started that hot in Beantown.

The Celtics....they simply play better at home.  Always have.
Referees have a tendency to get caught up in the hype of the home team. (Unfortunately)

I believe the Hawks go 2-0.

And home court may make all the difference in this series.

This makes no sense. Ive played competitive sports all my life and ive never once bumped a ref out of frustration. Getting mad at a call and showing your emotions is one thing, and thats acceptable... But the ref made the call, how is Rondo going to change it by following the ref after already recieving a technical. Show your emotion, get your tech, and be done with it.

For the people who are all over Rondo I hope they were as equally harsh on KG 2 seasons ago when he was ejected and suspended for a game in the first round against the heat...then there was Piercesw ejection last season in the playoffs and his incidents pre-big 3

How come 99% of all of these "athletes" can avoid bumping/hitting/touching/etc. the refs but Rondo can?

It is shame on him. He cost his team any chance to win game 1 and may have cost his team game 2 because of his stupidity.

Grow up. Act like a professional.

Rondo should have choked Davis within an inch of his life and if you don't understand why he should have done that than you must never have played sports at the level I have.

Just because some people are mature enough to control their temper does not mean that they dont compete as hard or at as high of a level.

Exactly, I played sports (and still do) sorry I don't throw temper tantrums when I don't get my way.
