30 or a bit more for bass
25 or so a night for greg and then jjj because we know greg and bass are a bit foul prone anyways

Yeah, gotta give the young man some playing time now in case you have to rely on him for some minutes in the playoffs. Gotta get him comfortable within the team concepts on either end of the floor.
I agree.  Better give him some experience now so he'll be prepared for extended "garbage time" in the first round... when we're blown out and swept by Miami or Chicago.

Doc gives rookies playing time, first, based on their defensive competence.  Who can JJJ guard? Given his lack of strength he is a project, he is getting the minutes he has earned.

Man call me an optimist but I really don't even see the point of posting stuff like that...doomsday vibes are getting kind of old around here... Enjoy this team's wins and analyse their losses but I just don't see the point in writing them off before a playoff ball has even bounced.

Nice reply jdz101, TP.

We can bury our heads in the sand and just assume everyone and their mother will be sticking it up our backside for the rest of the season - and assuming, because the debate is over, that we will probably go 2-22 the rest of the way and get absolutely demolished by whoever it is we play in the 1st round. (I know if we go 2-22 we won't be in the playoffs - that was for affect...)

Or.....Or...........

We could lace 'em up and go down swinging, with everything in the tank - which is exactly what this unit will do and which is exactly why I can't wait to watch the rest of the season from this group that has brought us so many great and memorable moments the last five years.

Is there even a choice? Let's see, cry in our milk about how badly we suck, or go out and try to punch every team we play in the head?

I do agree that a smaller rotation of bigs should not result in KG playing too many minutes. That's why I'm advocating JJJ getting minutes tomorrow night - thought it was tonight in SAC).

Maybe 20 is too much, but I'd probably look to do:

KG and Bass to start off
Work in Stiemsa
and then try to get JJJ in there while KG is at the five

I'd really like to see a four man rotation starting tomorrow night. Even if it means a couple more losses along the way.

We just need to land in the 4th to 6th spot, preferably the 6th for draft position. Get past that round and see what happens from there.

The team will benefit and so will JJJ - don't grind KG right now. Grind Bass, Stiemsma and JJJ.

I think JJJ has shown nice touch on his shot.  He needs to work out in the weight room more than anything and watch his nutrition so any weight he gains is good weight.

True points on his weight and lifting. That being said, he has great speed up and down the court and good leaping ability and a great reach around the basket.

I put him in, let him take his lumps in the paint and tell him I want him flying up and down the court, especially on offense with Rondo and try to get some easy baskets by putting pressure on the transition D of the other team.

I just believe there is a way we can get some positive contributions out of him but we need to start it right now, like next game to figure out the best way to maximize him within the mix of KG, Stiemsma and Bass.

I'm all for giving the kid a try.  I'm actually shocked someone with his offensive skill set, size, polish, and athleticism slipped this late in the draft.  Usually you only get athletic freaks with no skill or big stiffs in the late first round.

While he's thin, so was KG when he came into the league.  And while he may get pushed around, if he can make other teams pay at least equally as much for not keeping up with him athletically, he could be helpful.

He's also a 4 year senior, so he's actually older than Avery Bradley.  So he should be able to handle more than your average rookie.

Yeah. TP Jon.

That's the way I see it too. Funny thing about JJJ, he had one of the best bench presses in the draft combines. If he can add about 20-25 pounds over the next couple of seasons, he has some real potential. Also true about his overall skill set.

While his offense has solid potential, I'm more intrigued with his defense potential once he adds some weight. He's long, cat quick and a great leaper, quick leaper.

I tried to look up KG to see how much he weighed coming into the league but couldn't find it.

Thanks for the TP.

This isn't official, but basketball reference has a weight listed for him at 220 lbs. and a picture of him in a T-Wolves uniform, so I'm pretty sure they haven't changed it in years.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/garneke01.html

Most listings today have him at 253.

JaJuan Johnson is listed at 221 on ESPN, so there comparison we both saw is pretty accurate.

I think I would like the strategy of giving him five minutes in the first half and telling him that it doesn't matter how much he scores or how well he shoots because he's not seeing time in the second half if he doesn't show something on defense.

It really doesn't matter what we want or think should happen.  Doc is going to play to win and that means playing the best players and right now JJJ in his mind isn't one of them...

He'll get his chance again.  We may have to show a little patience, though.

Doc is tough on rookies, and rightfully so, in my opinion.  He makes them earn their time and doesn't just hand it to them when his main purpose is to try to win games.  Many people mistake that for him never giving rookies a chance.  That, however, is not the case.
