I wouldn't trade 17 for Gerald no way! Why is that even a issue? But to say Sasha or Marquis is better is just being a Celtic homer with green goggles. If Sasha or Marquis can get 20 in a game all year with us at anytime i'll sing their praises. Let alone do it on efficient shooting from deep in 23 minutes. If he was in our team he would play & be a great fit going forward with Rondo & get even easier buckets with Rondo than he would any other PG out there.

Sasha serves a different purpose, its strictly defense with him. You mentioned that Green is a great shooter...which is hardly the case, I mentioned before that since hes been back hes hardly been shooting the lights out in NJ. The fact is that besides D-Will the Nets have no one else to go to. This is why Brooks numbers are so inflated, either way Green is not a real 3 point shooter otherwise a contender like the Bulls would have found a way to use him for their playoff run. Daniels? Okay I'll give you Daniels as hes been useless on both sides of the ball this year, but on the other hand...he does have a really cool blinged out chain of himself!

I think in some ways GG is the scoring wing version of the Wizards' defensive frontcourt twins, Blatche and McGee.

Their low BBIQ would frustrate Doc and his intricate systems to no end.

I love the "one game changes everything" mentality of some fans, whether it be a Rondo triple-double or the play of a guy dead between the ears like Gerald Green.

Hilarious.

I for one am rooting for GG. He's always had the talent to play  and his issues were experience and maturity. Coming out of high school he didn't know much about the NBA game and was on a bad team so he could get away with hotdogging and lazy effort.

But he brought a lot to the Celtics. He was fun to watch and  he was fun to make fun of. I'm not advocating we bring him back, but I hope the guy finds a place in the league. People change. We should hope he has. If he becomes nothing more than a bench guy/dunk champion he's still good to have in the league.

Gerald Green's defense should not be judged on his defensive statistics.

It's not his fault that he is being played out of his position and put in disadvantageous defensive matchups on a regular basis.

Gerald Green and cannot and should not defend the three spot. We won't know where his defense is until he starts getting extended reps against two guards.

Roy the difference is I'm watching the game while yall critiquing boxscores. He lifted the arena with his energy tonight with the dunk. Plus if you are going to read the boxscores, read the play by play! Not the plus/minus as it is not indicative of a players impression on a game. If I come in with the worse bench in the league & get 15 pts in 10 minutes playing well, but we get killed by the leagues best unit its going to say I suck with all the rest of my teammates wouldn't it. So I say watch the games.

I think the fact that the two guys he was helping guard had a combined 14/19 shooting night probley mitigated his offensive energy and Lift to the arena a bit don't you?

But i guess he can't be expected to bother the shots of such noted offensive juggernauts as chandler parsons and Chase budringer.

not to mention, how did his own basket to give rockets the lead for good sit with the crowd?

Look GG is what he is, a streaky scorer who can be useful as your 7-8th man when his jumpshot is falling or the other team forgets to play defense in transition and he can use his admittedly amazing dunking ability to finish a break.

But his utter lack of Consistency, defense, handle, basketball IQ or in general ANYTHING beyond scoring makes it extremely difficult for a playoff contender to waste a rotation spot on him.

I hope GG keeps on in NJ, but I don't miss him one bit. If were going to talk one dimensional players who i wish we had back, Give me Tony allen. I hated TA on offense because he was just as atrocious as GG is on defense, but if im a playoff team looking for a bench player, give me the elite defender over the inconsistent scorer any day of the week.

This is a fair point, but unfortunately I don't see him playing the 2 in New Jersey anytime soon.

Interesting.  Because he's too slight and weak to defend 3's?  Does he have the quickness for the 2?

No. Me either. Their roster is too unbalanced. They have to play G.Green there.

Unfortunately, that means there is only limited opportunities to see him matchup against players at his own position.

Yeah, Gerald is way too small to matchup effectively against SFs.

He doesn't have the physical size, physical toughness or defensive chops required to matchup effectively against bigger players. He needs the size advantage defensively to have any hope of being a serviceable (or better) defender.

Ditto for his value as a rebounder. Horribly over-matched at the three. The large negative value of his defense/rebounding @ SF will make it pretty much impossible for him to have a positive impact on the Nets.

Need to see get extended minutes at his proper position (SG).

And to think this kid just turned 26.  It seems like he's been around forever.   I have a feeling that he will finally carve out a steady role in the league as a fill it up bench scorer for a middling to bad team.

So far in a short sample in NJ,  he's hitting half his shots and scoring a hair less than an point every two minutes.  There's always a place for that kind of production on bad teams. I hope Green sticks in the league.  The guy's put his time in internationally and in the D league and might have a better understanding of how to be a pro.

I'll always like how he inflamed those annoying Raptor fans with his dunking antics when the Cs were a pathetic team.  We'll always have Toronto, Gerald.

I can't believe anyone is petty enough to blame Danny Ainge for Gerald Green.

He had his shot here, and he blew it. He sucked. So we got rid of him (as in fact fans like those here wanted).

And you are seriously saying it is now Ainge's fault for not getting him back?

No name calling, please.

I love how fans hated him when he was in boston and they still get annoyed by him when he's not, because he played one good game...hilarious.
