I hate to say it but I been driving the get Gerald back bus the whole time while he was in the D-League. 26pts in 23minutes? We could have sure used that offense on our bench, plus I been saying hes matured bodywise & as a basketball player. He is not as green & clueless as he was before. But yet Danny goes & gets the retread stiffs Daniels & Sasha instead of a retread high wire act live useful body like Gerald! Now thats what makes me upset.

The day I see GG do anything other than dunk or hit a few jumpers, I'll be sad that he's not still a Celtic.

I'd rather have Green then Dooling. Green was to be had all year...he wasnt even in the NBA then was free for the taking in the D-League...

Makes you wonder what Dannys plan is.

Dooling?

Dooling is a point guard, Green is a wing...one does not impact the other. Green is a one trick pony, the Celtics got a championship by including him for KG. Ripping up the D-League is nothing compared to the grind of the NBA. The Wolves, Mavs, and Rockets all gave up on him too.

He also scored an own basket with 1 minute to go that gave Houston the lead and was their last field goal made.

Not saying much. I'd rather have hot pins in my eyes than watch dooling at this point.

Scoring the basketball is 1 hell of a trick to have though! Naismith invited the game to score buckets! And I will be here waiting when you tell me what is Sasha & Daniels 1 trick. Lol Gerald can ball & we shouldn't hate on his temporary success because its gonna be permanent soon. Great 3pt. Shooter/scorers who can create their own offense finds soft landing spots under the right coaching.

I still love this kid. I do wish we had signed him instead of Daniels. If nothing else I'd love to see him throwing down some of these for us in garbage time. Even if he can't actually play D...

he had some 20+ games for Boston too.  Wasn't very good, though.

Before tonight he was shooting like garbage, so what exactly has he done to improve?

Sasha plays defense and while I don't like him or Daniels I don't think we should be kicking ourselves because of Gerald Green. The Celtics won a title, if the C's had the core of Rondo/Big Al/Green and whatever we would have gotten from Paul Pierce, the Celtics would still be in Wizardville.

Me too. I'd still take Sasha and Marquis if he (hopefully) comes back. As with many basketball fans, I'm infatuated, to say the least, with potential players like this but at 26 the ceiling is beginning to solidify for him.

Best case scenario he's a fringe starter and you have to give up resources (at the very least playing time) and bear risk.

Nothing new.

I'd like to see him back in the league for dunk contests alone.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I wouldn't trade 17 for Gerald no way! Why is that even a issue? But to say Sasha or Marquis is better is just being a Celtic homer with green goggles. If Sasha or Marquis can get 20 in a game all year with us at anytime i'll sing their praises. Let alone do it on efficient shooting from deep in 23 minutes. If he was in our team he would play & be a great fit going forward with Rondo & get even easier buckets with Rondo than he would any other PG out there.

I think you guys are forgetting just how bad this guy is on defense. It's an extremely limited sample size, of course, but so far this season opposing 3s have an unreal 22 PER against him, and he's letting in 1.09 points per play (just as horrible). These numbers may not mean that much because of how few games he's played (the Synergy PPP numbers are based on 46 plays, but those 46 plays put him at 394th in the NBA), but it's not helping his case.

The guy can flat-out volume score and he's going to make a lot of highlights so he's probably useful towards the end of a roster, but he's not anywhere near an NBA rotation player and likely will never be. But he's certainly fun to watch.
