Portland - this team is almost an exact duplicate of the real Portland team and for that reason lands here below the difference making superstar teams in the west

"Almost exact duplicate?" Care to clarify?

Brand 32, 10.2 ppg on 46% shooting, 6.7 rpg
Camby, 36, 3.8 ppg on 39% shooting, 9.6 rpg

Both are underrated defenders, with similar steal and block rates, but otherwise I don't see it.

Williams 25, 16.0 ppg on 42% shooting, 38% 3PT%, 3,8 apg, 1 TO
Felton 27, 9.9 ppg on 36% shooting, 21% 3PT%, 6.3 apg, 2.9 TO

Kurt Thomas and Amir Johnson?

How bout that ball movement, there?
As IP points out, Brand and Williams have an ability to score but their downgrade in passing ability from Felton and Camby will probably hinder the other three guys games making the overall net effect about even. Defensively their still about the same and I like Kurt Thomas more than Amir Johnson. Always thought Johnson to be one of the most over rated players in these drafts.

That is some nickpicking.

I know Nick is a Felton fan, but for the record he was wrong and Raymond's 2009-10 shooting was an aberration after all. The guy is a poor shooter posting career worsts. He's barely managing to score 10 points on 10 shots, he's shooting 37% from the field and 22% from behind the arc. This is on a TrailBlazers team otherwise playing at a high level but desperate for a reliable second scoring option behind Aldridge.

The argument is that the loss of 1.8 assists (and 1.7 TOs by the way) per 36 minutes counterbalances major improvement in the team's offensive efficiency: +8.1 points per 36, a .533 TS% vs .442% TS%, and almost triple the FTA.

Or that replacing a sub-40% shooting center and the second lowest scoring starter in the NBA (Camby is edging out Joel Anthony's 3.3 by 0.3 points per game) with a steady 10 points on 46% is evened out by Camby's, admittedly nice, 2.2 assists per?

Kurt Thomas over Amir Johnson however I cannot argue. I regretted it immediately. As I'm sure Nick now regrets taking Brandon Bass with Jason Collins still on the board.

People lament how the 'big man is fading' from basketball. Quick, try and name 30 players in the NBA you'd feel comfortable starting for your NBA franchise at the 2.

There are like..not a whole ton of good 2's in basketball. I'm sitting here fwus****ed that I can't improve my position with Brandon Rush, but there seriously aren't that many feasible 2's in basketball. Who are the mid-tier guys, the Tayshaun Prince's and Carlos Delfino's?

Just aren't very many diamonds in the rough at the 2. Frustrating. You could easily name 30 starting caliber PG's, or PF's, but SG's and C's are hard to come by.

Pietrus? Here is what Hollinger says about Pietrus:

Quote
+ Talented wing who can shoot, defend and finish. Has skills to be great defender.

+ Held back by mental game and poor handle. Turnover- and mistake-prone.

+ Gaining a rep for selfish play. Will take poor shots. Rarely passes.

After showing so much promise as a two-way threat in the 2009 playoffs, Pietrus has regressed to the point where he's barely playable. Last season he did little but launch 3s, and not terribly accurately.

Pietrus took two-thirds of his shots from beyond the arc but made only 34.2 percent. That might have been survivable had he contributed otherwise, but he almost never passed; he had the second-lowest assist ratio among shooting guards; he didn't draw fouls; and he wasn't even active enough to score at a high rate. The latter part is particularly disappointing because Pietrus can get out on the break and is athletic enough to finish in close. Alas, he's a terrible ball handler and has a poor feel for the game.

Defensively, Pietrus has long arms and good feet and could be outstanding if he applied himself. He ranked sixth among shooting guards in blocks per minute and, even being more concerned with his points than his opponent's, he's still a decent defender. He loses focus at times and fouls too much (only seven shooting guards were whistled more), but he's often athletic enough to make up for his mistakes. His advanced defensive stats were solid, but it's disappointing because he could be an all-defense performer and he's clearly not.

His shooting numbers are expected to recover a bit from last year's catastrophe, which would make him an acceptable rotation player. His presence, however, mostly serves to saddle the Suns with yet another low-value midlevel contract.

Its frustrating to try to gain an angle there.

Don't sweat Nick's rankings.  Just sit back and laugh at the chances of LeBron and a bunch of role players being the most dangerous playoff team in the West.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I Definately think there are at least two very good big men left, and not so many guards.

The Heat aren't really noticing either. Has there been a talent dropoff?

I've got 6.7, and someone in mind. I may want to move up to ensure getting him, so if someone has an even earlier pick in this round they might consider swapping, let me know.

Alright, I'm gonna start doin some surgery on the draft board to update it for Monday.

If you made a trade, and it ain't in the trade entry (3rd post in this thread), speak now.

Did you ever sort out that other "uneven" trade that was made?  The one between Portland and... (?)

Do the Cavaliers still have pick "11.29"? If so dibs on 11.30 and 10.29 while I'm at it.

I am so willing to make trades right now, and everyone is on the table.

Just to be clear, I'm looking for trades, not desperate for trades.  Also, anyone catch the Thunder-Nuggets game?  I didn't, so I have no idea how his defense was, but man did Westbrook (and Durant and Ibaka) but up some stats.

Jason Collins?

Is he the good twin or the bad twin?

Or is there a good Collins twin?

If you took both Collins twins and smashed them into one player, would they be any better than either one of them are all by themselves, which is barely and NBA worthy rotation player?
