As opposed to what? Throwing the ball boy out there?
JJJ is in a different situation than E'Twaun because of who's playing in front of him, but if Doc really thinks JJJ can play than he needs to play, even if it's just a few garbage minutes in the 1st half.
What do people think helped Avery Bradley more? Being stuck on the bench all last season or being force-fed minutes this season, even when he stank up the court? I mean, when the team, particularly KG, was playing so very poorly, did it make any sense for JJJ to remain glued to the bench? Doc got so desperate in one game, he tried a line up with Bass at center. When it's that bad, stubbornly refusing to play a rookie like JJJ is inexcusable.
