Rondo is our best player; but his defense has be very weak. He has made Toney Douglas, Norris Cole and Jarett Jack look like All-Stars. He used to be able to get away with it with Perk and a Younger Garnet guarding the paint; but Bass and Wilcox have not had his back.

its not that he doesnt play D, he seems to gamble every play and try to go for a steal.... when it doesnt work they get around him.

I agree. Rondo is too much of a gambler and always lets his man go by him in hopes of poking the ball away. I never understood why people think rondo is an elite defender. We have always gotten torched by opposing teams point guards.

Sure rondo gets his on the other end so sometimes it's a wash but I wish he would just focus on locking a guy down and staying in front of his man rather than going for the steal.

I haven't seen this at all this season, i've actually been flat out impressed at Rondo's aggression trying to shut down whoever it is that's in front of him.

Amazing that there's a thread about Rondo's poor defense when Ray Allen is playing his worst overall basketball since coming here. I know that he's shooting well but his turnovers and poor perimeter defense is just horrible.

Ray Allen has 10 turnovers in 3 games and i'm pretty sure that the other team scored off of every single one.

Rondo is not coachable. Therefore will not improve anything.

True. Lets trade him for Norris Cole.

Yeah, as far as you can tell his game hasn't improved at all since he entered the league.

I never understood why people think rondo is an elite defender. We have always gotten torched by opposing teams point guards.

Multiple 1st team all-defense (voted on by coaches), top 5-6 in DPOY voting, being, statistically, one of the best if not the best in the league defensively, or maybe watching him play. He had a bad game vs the Hornets but he's generally as good as you'll see.

According to synergy sports, he defended 20 plays that ended in shots, free throws or turnovers against the Knicks. The players Rondo defended scored 12 points from those 20 plays, shooting 31% from the field. That translates into "making Toney Douglas look like an all-star" in threads like these.

Are people still talking about Norris Cole? Look would you want LeBron or Wade taking the shot or a rookie. And everybody played poorly yesterday, on both sides of the floor. Rondo especially seemed tired, since, y'know, he played 40+ minutes the first two games.

It's called a guy that knows he will have to play 40+ minutes every night and is trying to save himself.  Plus, I think he believes he is better then most pgs and has trouble getting up to play them.

Ray Allen's turnovers are horrible? Rondo has coughed up the ball 16 times in the first three games. I guess Rondo's turnovers just "look better".
