Well since we are talking about crazy trades that might actually be justifiable:
4 team trade between Lakers, Celtics, Magic, and Suns
Phoenix Receive Rajon Rondo, Matt Barnes, and Chris Wilcox/Brandon Bass
Magic Receive Andrew Bynum, Avery Bradley, Jermaine O'Neal (expiring), Keyon Dooling (expiring) and picks
Lakers Receive Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkoglu (bad contract from Orl), Josh Childress, and Hakim Warrick (Both bad contracts from Phoenix)
Boston Receives Steve Nash, Chris Duhon, and Pau Gasol
A couple more fillers might need to be added, some cash exchanged, and picks tossed it to get a deal done but this trade could make sense for all parties if the scenario below unfolds.
Why for Boston? Were in win now mode. Nash and Gasol added to the Big 3 is a dynamic starting five. We could add some players (buyouts) for the vet min. We still have Duhon, Daniels, and Bass or Wilcox off the bench. We get a legit shot at winning this year and maybe next.
Why for LAL? They are struggling for them. The Clippers are stealing the headlines. They don't see Bynum or Gasol as the guy to build the Franchise around after Kobe who is starting to show signs of slowing down. They have a horrible cap situation and won't be able to sign FAs for a few years and they will never be bad enough get a high pick. This is their ONLY chance to acquire a franchise player they can build around for the next ten years. They're all in on D12.
Why for Phoenix? They aren't a playoff team and they know Nash walks after the year is over. Nash is so old that Rondo is the best player out there for him to be traded for. He's on a solid contract and could fit well in their system. They get to unload a lot of bad contracts and possibly get a pick as well.
Why for Orlando? Howard has checked out and he's gone next year for nothing unless they move him. They aren't as high on Lopez as they are Bynum. They decide they don't want to take on Gasol's salary either. They want to unload bad contracts like Hedo and Duhon as well. They get some picks also.
This is my crazy and never will happen trade idea. But it Does make some sense for all involved if the scenarios I describe above unfold. It is likely Phoenix is terrible, LAL loses ground to the Clips and struggles, and Howard checks out though.
