Exactly.  And the advantage of having a starting lineup of Rondo, Ray, Pierce, West, and KG definitely outweigh the matchups disadvantage with one or two centers in the entire league.

This is a great move by Danny, and it is going to rejuvenate KG to be covered by slower Centers all the time.

Right it shouldn't matter that much, in crunch time Perk would be on the bench and KG would be pulling C duty.

I agree KG shouldn't play lots of center and it's not his natural place, but I don't see it as a disaster, especially if he has other good defensive players out there with him, especially at the forward spots.  I don't think there are lots of centers out there thinking "Man I hope they defend me with KG. It's so much easier than going against Chris Wilcox or Kwame"

Wilcox is taller and bulkier than Wesy so I'd play him against Howard and Boozer.

But they are also saying...wait, you mean I have to cover KG too?  No thank you, ill take Kwame.

So yeah, this will be a change in identity for this team.  They are going to win on offense.  They still will get stops, but the key will be that the other team won't.

That's awesome.

Seriously, KG can cover pretty much anyone in spurts.  It's West who I would worry about defensively.  But most teams don't have two good big men to worry about scoring besides L.A.  You almost hope the Lakers trade for Paul so you don't have to worry about matching up with Gasol and Bynum.

Other side of the coin if we are starting west & kg, that is 2 bigs with range and serious offensive game.  What center will be off the block defending kg (or west) opening lanes up for rondo & pierce.  As long as the TEAM blocks out and rebounds its good.

"Wesy"?  Have we got a new nickname born of a typo?

If Camby can do it, KG can do it too. I think one of the truly elite aspects of KG's game is his team defense and protecting the rim and this gets him closer to the rim.

Other pf's are getting smaller and quicker now anyway...I'd be more worried about constant cutting and running than guys backing him down as he gets further into old age.

People seem to forget that we won the 2008 title with KG playing the 5 and Posey playing the 4 in crunchtime.  If they could win with Posey playing next to KG, they should be perfectly fine with a legit 4 like West or Bass out there with him.

against the banger centers like howard, marc gasol etc west or bass could switch over to cover them.  a west / KG frontcourt will be able to make it work with most matchups, i think.

against the teams we have to fear most (read: heat, knicks, bulls), we don't have to worry about any real bruisers or major scorers at the center position.  KG can cover Noah / Chandler / Amare / Bosh.  West can handle heavier guys like Boozer.

I think it can work out pretty well against Miami and Chicago. Put West/Bass on Bosh or Boozer and you have KG defending a weak offensive player and able to guard the rim against Wade/James/Rose and the like.

I think he will play the four on offense because he likes jumpers.   On D he will play whomever gives us the better matchup.  Right now one would think Wilcox or Bass would be playing the post slot for us.   Both are inside guys.   Positions are not as concrete as they used to be.   KG will be where he always was on our offense though I would bet.   Bass or Wilcox will slide over to where Perk was folks.

Wilcox is an awful defender isnt he?
