Howard to New Jersey/Brooklyn is the best scenario right now.

Lakers had been searching for deal in past day to obtain a first-round pick to send New Orleans as part of Chris Paul package, sources say.

@WojYahooNBA

Come on, David Kahn.  Give them a #1 for Metta World Peace.

yup.  we basically have to hope that the Nets will be set up to dominate the next 5-10 years so that the Lakers won't be.

If the Rockets give up more players in the deal then they deserve Chris Paul. I know that's crazy, it's the NBA... it's the way the three-team deal works... but it just sounds weird to me.

If someone needs to break a five and "Greg" gives a dollar and "Fred" gives four, does it sound right if "Greg" gets the full five in return?

This deal will be approved.

While "basketball reasons" were cited for the reason of the veto (Stern not wanting players to go where they want to go, the rest of the league be [dang]ed), the main reason by the owners was that NO wasn't getting enough.

Now they are getting more. That is the above reasonings bottom line: NO not getting enough for Paul. This new deal rectifies that. They are getting more.

In terms of NO, it is irrelevant what the other two teams in the deal are getting: that's between them.

The NBA does not own the Fakers (????am I sure?)nor the Rockets. What those teams want and give up are entirely up to them (their GM and owners).

If one of those teams wants to make an incredibly irrseponsible trade, sadly that is up to them.

This really sucks. the owner of the Rockets is an idiot for letting this happen. As many others have said, how can they set up the Fakers to dominate, when they are in direct competition with them in the West?

Paul to the Lakers is a done deal and I am not concerned about that.  Neither am I concerned about Howard joining him there.

What I AM concerned about is their NEXT deal.  Getting Houston to be 3rd party for Chris Paul came out of the blue.  As did Pau Gasol.  As did Ron Artest.  As did Kobe (who?) Bryant.  As did Shaquille O'Neal.

I'm old enough to remember when they stole Mychal Thompson from under our noses.

The Lakers are up to something that we're not expecting.

When we were still in the race to land CP3, it was reported that Celtics had delivered multiple three team offers for CP3. Any idea who was the 3rd team and which players were involved?

Told again within last 5 min that CP deal still being worked on, and is not yet submitted to NBA, as others have reported. Fluid situation.

Here's how I see it going down.

Teams text deal to David Stern.  "No."

Houston adds Jordan Hill.  Stern: "Still no".

Houston: "How about now?" (adds Patrick Patterson).  Stern:  "Nope."

Houston:  "Same offer, but we'll throw in every future #1 we have".  Stern:  "Uh uh".

Houston:  "... and Nene's first born child".  Stern:  "No way".

Houston:  "We'll send $3 million to LA".  Stern: "No".

Houston:  "We'll wax Kobe's back for him, and wash Jerry Buss's feet".  Stern:  "Getting close, but still no."

Houston:  "We'll take Metta World Peace instead of Gasol".  Stern:  "Just ... a little ... more".

Houston:  "And we'll change our team moniker to the Houston 'LA's Cellblock Wives"  Stern:  Okay, approved for "basketball reasons".

1. Why is Houston being asked to throw in more chips, not the Lakers?

2. Why didn't the Hornets GM approach other potential trade partners (e.g. Boston) to see if they could improve the pot?  Wasn't Stern's major objection that the Hornets did not get good young talent in the deal? Is not Rondo (or Curry) young talent?  I can't believe adding hte Knicks' no.1 pick (which should not have much value) is considered young talent? The chances of that pick panning out as well as someone like Rondo are astronomically small.

What gives?

What gives? The Lakers run this league. The veto was a dog and pony show.
